Dairy farms in Kansas? Raided. Barton County? Texts about entire hotel blocks rented out by feds for the next weeks. It is a pogrom. This is called a pogrom.

Hey so uhhhhh that Boston Globe story about the lesbian bar relaxing its covid rules is an *absolute fucking hit piece* targeting the disabled, chronically ill, and covid-conscious and it would be great if folks sharing and joking about it could recognize that framing.

The difference between Mitch McConnell and Diane Feinstein is that McConnell, unlike Feinstein, would have chosen to be elder abused in this way, back when he was capable of decision making

Starbucks Workers United @sbworkersunited.org · 25/08/2026
🚨BREAKING: Our union of over 12,000 baristas are officially calling for a Starbucks boycott. Read this statement penned by Starbucks workers on why a boycott from ALL customers, allies, and organizations is necessary to fight back against corporate greed:
BOYCOTT STARBUCKS is written inside a zig-zaggy speech bubble against crumbled paper. Beside it are the Starbucks Workers United logo and an image of a coffee cup being poured out.We, the 12,000 and growing members of Starbucks Workers United, call on everyone who stands with working people to boycott Starbucks until they finalize a contract with union baristas and stop union-busting.
What we’re fighting for is simple: a minimum $17/hr wage, enough hours to live on, better staffing in our stores, and basic workplace protections. Every year, our living costs rise but our wages don’t keep up – a growing pressure many American workers are feeling as corporate greed accelerates unchecked in our country.
Starbucks is banking on customers' blind loyalty to the integrity and values this company once stood for in order to keep squeezing them for profits. At a time when working-class people across the country are struggling in a challenging economy, it is no longer possible to be both a Starbucks customer and in support of workers; choosing to spend money at Starbucks is choosing a law breaking corporation over the baristas who make your coffee everyday exactly as you ask for it.
Starbucks has violated U.S. labor law more than any other company in modern history–the NLRB and its judges have found that Starbucks committed hundreds of labor violations and there are currently more than 550 unresolved unfair labor practice charges still pending against the company. Instead of finalizing a fair and reasonable union contract, Starbucks has repeatedly demonstrated a lack of care for the workers who fuel the company’s profits by wasting millions of dollars on AI and technology that doesn’t work, launching countless gimmicky drinks designed to distract from real problems, and inventing pointless policies that do nothing but make our jobs harder.
This ongoing, irrational behavior by Starbucks and its refusal to settle a fair union contract with workers leaves us with no other choice than to call for a boycott. We know when working people stand up together, we win.
No Contract? No Coffee.

It happened earlier, when Biden pulled us out of Afghanistan. He really wasn't supposed to do that. Ending that war had something like 90% approval at the time and the media turned it into a liability for him.

Much simpler explanation: Democrats are a right wing party, and "electabilty" was always just an excuse. How do you force right wing policy onto a left wing voting base? Convince them you have no choice.

lmao! Imagine, a Democrat who wants to beat Republicans so badly they're willing to engage in dirty tricks, like running a guy with the same name as their opponent, in order to win. Is there a precedent for this? Find whoever is responsible and put them in charge of the DNC.

Democrats love confusing working class aesthetics for working class politics. 10 years ago they were all wearing plaid shirts & carhartt vests. Seems like the new model is glowering, reactionary white men who dress like slobs. Same grift, different year

Very excited about this. With corporate news gone for good, it's been tough trying to recreate a decent news feed using indie media, due to the # of sites and subscriptions. This looks like it will aggregate a bunch of outlets under one subscription in a way that pays creators fairly.

Democrats are doing that thing again where they try to outlaw something which is already illegal, helping Trump by creating an impression that his actions had been legal before their attempted "fix". But even that hollow, symbolic and counter-productive action was too much for traitor boy here.

Ending the Afghanistan war had something like 90% approval & they were somehow able to turn that into a liability for Biden. IDK if mass media has that kind of juice anymore though. They've torched so much of their capacity & credibility since then.

How many of the masked gangs being identified as "ICE" by seemingly everyone are actually white nationalists going around doing lynchings? How many are with organized crime? We don't know. All you need is an SUV, some military gear and a few dudes to start your own human trafficking ring.

The contrast between how MN and IL officials responded to the same situation is so disheartening as an IL resident. It's becoming apparent just how much @mayorofchicago.bsky.social, @govpritzker.illinois.gov, the TRAITOR @durbin.senate.gov, & others sold their own people to the wolves.

If the general public is going to stay informed as the US descends into fascist chaos and state-sanctioned terrorism, it will be because independent journalists risked their lives and their freedoms to bring us the truth. Seek out the indies doing this work. Read them, promote them, fund them!

New, w/ @mulchy.bsky.social & @djbyrnes1.bsky.social: ICE shot & killed an immigrant in the Chicago suburbs yesterday. Then they immediately gave a misleading account of events. Chicago erupted in chaos and a father who lived here for decades is dead. This is what really happened:

What happened to Silverio Villegas-Gonzalez
Immigration agents shot and killed an unarmed 38-year-old father outside Chicago on Friday—and their initial narrative of events was quickly disproven by videos captured by witnesses.

I for one think it's a good thing that Charlie Kirk, a fascist liar and inciter of violence and terrorism, is dead, so now he can't do that stuff anymore In the fascist/centrist response to his killing, you see them building the rhetorical architecture to label anti-fascism as a terrorist ideology

Hannity should have simply explained to the farmer how much more profit his bankrupt farm will make after it's bought out by a global agribusiness conglomerate for pennies on the dollar. As a conservative, he should stop complaining and be happy to sacrifice for the greater good (shareholders).

Donors pay both parties, but not so they always come out on top no matter who wins an election. They pay Democrats to lose, and they pay Republicans to win.

My all-time favorite "distraction" was when Trump accused Barack Obama of treason, and Obama himself dismissed this, a credible call for HIS OWN EXECUTION, as "just a distraction" Pretty sure he'd still be saying "it's a distraction" and calling for bipartisanship on his way to the firing squad.

It's interesting how freely companies admit they've been eating tariffs, i.e. deliberately reducing their profit margins in violation of their fiduciary duty to shareholders. How many shareholders even realize they're being robbed to prop up Trump, I wonder?

"Libertarianism" in America was always about giving conservative authoritarians like Musk & Thiel a nicer name to call themselves. That word is so poisoned now, and they think you're so stupid, now they've invented "Liberaltarian" in an attempt to continue the charade.

Housing = genocide is an example of something I'm seeing more of lately: conservative/"centrist" astroturfers no longer understanding what they're pretending to be. They know they need to lie about their beliefs, but due to their own deepening ignorance, none of it quite makes sense anymore.

Furrierist @furrierist.bsky.social · 02/08/2025
Wow they just admit freely that a bunch of companies have been deliberately tanking their profit margins to prop up Donald Trump. If I was a major shareholder of one of those companies, I might have some questions about that, and maybe a lawsuit!

More and more people are saying it: Labour is previewing for us how Democrats will govern if given power again absent a MAJOR intra-party realignment in the next primaries.
000
Furrierist @furrierist.bsky.social · 27/07/2025
It's a great question, even Obama himself dismissed the accusation as "just a distraction." Which, sure, is true in a narrow sense, but it's also MUCH more than that. They can't quit bipartisanship, even with the GOP credibly threatening their execution, while actively executing other Democrats.

"Downwardly mobile elites" typifies the laziness and contempt behind the new reactionary identity politics mass media is trying to push on liberals. also LMAO at all these "respectable" both-sides centrists being reduced to doing mask-off Rush Limbaugh bits about moochers and welfare queens.

Furrierist @furrierist.bsky.social · 22/07/2025
I used to agree with the basic game theory logic of voting blue in general elections, but that was a strategy for a democracy with a functioning social contract. Now that that's all gone, explicit anti-fascism is the baseline. Anyone who can't manage that needs to switch parties or quit politics.

I call this philosophy Lennonism, from "You tell me it's the institutions / you better free your mind instead." It's a nice thought, that if we could all just have better personalities, that would somehow bubble up to a more equal/free society. But of course it was always just the institutions.
