I kinda feel like the writing is on the wall now. We're seeing a spike in insider trading as everyone gets out before a crash, countries are instituting rules that make it functionally impossible to be profitable because AI bros were banking on literally zero externalities, etc.

OpenAI says it has found evidence that Chinese artificial intelligence start-up DeepSeek used the US company’s proprietary models to train its own open-source competitor, as concerns grow over a potential breach of intellectual property.
The San-Francisco-based ChatGPT maker told the Financial Times it had seen some evidence of ‘distillation’, a technique used by developers to obtain better performance on smaller models by using outputs from larger, more capable models. This allows them to achieve similar results on specific tasks at a much lower cost.
OpenAI declined to comment further on details of its evidence. Its terms of service state users cannot “copy” any of its services or “use output to develop models that compete with OpenAI”.

Haptics will be really useful! I do multiuser motion capture over the internet, and having more ways of communicating cues to sync peformers during a take will help out a ton!

I got my start in game development with Love2D in 2011, and back then it felt like "easy mode" with it being Lua. But lately when I talk to folks who started with Unity, I've been getting remarks about Love2D like, "Woah! That's low level. Cool!"

Does anyone know how to do a reverse projection mapped texture bake? By that I mean, start with a detailed scene with dense foliage. Then place invisible quads rotated randomly throughout the trees. These quads will be used to sample colors as seen from a specific point in the scene. #gamedev

Fun fact about the original Kuté Muté booth: I 3D modeled it using Hammer and Counter-Strike: Source! Afterwards we cleaned things up and atlassed in Blender. But the quick turnaround of the Hammer workflow made it really fun to iterate. #vrchat #vket

Torneko took me months to beat. I ended up playing it to the point where I had the probability numbers in my head, always using herbs to expand HP rather than recover, ahahaha. It was the first roguelike I ever completed :D
