Here's a niche book rec for #xenofiction enjoyers on (that aren't arachnophobic, of course): Gossamer Lives by Mojo Place, a novella-length fable about a spider born unable to spin webs. When the sky inexplicably begins detaching from the Earth, she's recruited to save the world. (1/2) #BookSky
A simple book cover. The background is white, with a faint spiderweb pattern overlaying it. Serif text reads "Gossamer Lives, A NOVEL by MOJO PLACE". An Argiope orbweaver spider dangles from the "G" by a thread and a small, brown spider sits on the "O" in Mojo.

Here's a #xenofiction rec I can't believe I haven't made yet: The Storm Beneath the World! #BookSky A dark fantasy story about alien teens being conscripted into a war for their magical talents... talents that they're scorned for, and that will eventually kill them... No humans here! (1/3)
A green, insectoid alien with four arms and four legs perches on the back of a fearsome, black-and-red colored creature that flies on four insect wings. The creature has a fleshy texture pocked with boils. The rider wields a spear in her lower arms and a bow-and-arrow in her upper arms, both pointed at an unseen foe.

Happy Halloween! 🎃 Here's a spooky #xenofiction rec: Beasts of Burden, written by @evandorkin.bsky.social, illustrated by @thejillthompson.bsky.social and @benjamindewey.bsky.social. A supernatural horror series about a gang of pets up against sinister forces, currently on sale! (1/3) #BookSky
Cover for the Beasts of Burden Omnibus; five dogs behind an open fence gate stare in horror at a human skeleton inside a bloody ritual circle, except for one which growls at something out of view. On the fence, two cats also look alarmed at the scene, with their backs arched and fur standing on end.

I have a shrimp, which is both a fish and a bug if you squint. Not very anthro because anytime I don't think I have the skill to furry-ify a shrimp. (First and last art is mine, second is from Cerebrum_Cupcakes, third is from alwaysoutofpaper; both on ArtFight)
A golden shrimp smoking a bubble pipe with a stylized, cartoon-y smile of red teeth.A radially symmetrical image of golden shrimp swimming in a circle while smoking bubble pipes.A symmetrical image of two golden shrimp smiling and offering the viewer a smoking pipe with viscous bubbles flowing out. The left shrimp is lit from the front, while the light shrimp is lit from behind.Rough sketch of an anthropomorphic shrimp dude.

Super late to #FurryBookMonth, but still taking this opportunity to get on my soapbox about Vos Draemar by @larubric.bsky.social. These books are so fun!! Heartbreaking at times but fun!!! The first one is free on Amazon and Kobo, so no harm in giving it a try. (1/3) #FurryWriting #BookSky
The cover of The Sharpened Fangs of Lupine Spirit by H. G. Sansostri; a wolf's head being stabbed through the back and out the mouth by a large sword. Runes in an unknown language frame the image.

#xenofiction I should start shouting into the void to see if I can get some cool books looked at! So first up: Hunters Unlucky. It's a story about a little guy trying to outwit the evil big cats oppressing his people. It's recently been made into a series but this book is a standalone. (1/3)
The cover of Hunters Unlucky by Abigail Hilton; a young deer-fox creature perches cautiously in a tree and looks at the viewer while pantherine cats stalk the forest floor below.

This is Samurai the Giant Asian Hornet and that is Dusk, a Black Witch Moth / Tropical Swallowtail Moth cross. Samurai's ref shows her as a young whippersnapper before her wing and jaw get torn up, but Dusk's is still accurate. He rides a vampire bat named Dawn--he's a dragon rider of the bug world.
A giant Asian hornet named Samurai. Her legs and abdomen are more vibrant than is typical of her species, with her light stripes starting at a typical orange color and becoming bright yellow at the end of her abdomen.A brown, fluffy moth with shiny eyes and large pseudo-pupils slightly darker than the rest of his eyeballs. His wings are dark brown and have wavy patterns of darker and lighter stripes.
