No need to apologize at all. Grief is such a fine balance of allowing yourself (and mum - 68 yrs is a 💔) time to grieve and finding healing in distraction. It's never the same for anyone. We can wait for as long and as many times as you need. Condolences for your loss and peace be with you.

Disabled people need more support. Most ableds believe if you get “sick enough” help will magically appear. That if you get worse, more help will arrive. It doesn’t work like that. Unless you have family or deep pockets, you are on your own. Abuse is rampant. Suffering is inevitable.

Thanks for sharing. It's sad. I knew nothing of pigeon racing, or the psychological manipulation and money involved, before this experience. It's akin to releasing your dog into traffic and standing across the street with your other dog, imo.

He ended up dying after further treatment with a trained rescuer. At least he knew some version of care, kindness, and love before he died - which I think he understood. Even the biker that saw him in the street, just tossed him on to the grass without checking on him. Me neither!
