Lady, the Burning Man of nerds is called "Burning Man."
Excerpt from an Atlantic article about Dungeon Crawler Carl. I don't think I want to know what the Atlantic says about DCC *or* DCon; I clicked to check whether I'd seen the Marriott in my feed, is all.

The quote: "puppet, dressed in a zippered vest and white, heart-patterned boxers. They stood out even among the 75,000 attendees of (highlight begins) Dragon Con, the pop-culture convention described as the “Burning Man of nerds,” (highlight ends) which each Labor Day weekend turns downtown Atlanta into a sea of spandex and body paint. The uniform”

RTing to branch this, because it's wandering off topic. One time I prepaid a HH provider. They "can't bill until insurance goes through," and I was tired of going to collections 12 days after waiting months for a bill. They put the credit balance into a special ledger and sent me to collections.

I can't overstate how much I hate using 2FAs, plural, on my phone. I want to be able to get the distraction box away from my body. And every! damn! time! I put it in another room, my sessions time out. Do I have a better idea? No. Well, a work phone would help. But that's differently awful.

I went to the emergency room the day my family moved to Atlanta. The kind but stuffy doctor gave my parents directions that repeatedly referenced "the poor folks on the corner." I was 8, a yankee, and thought he was being a little rude about somebody's shack.

This artwork, Henfriend (2021), is an oil painting on canvas by Swedish artist and illustrator Anna Ileby.
Anna Ileby (born 1984) is a Swedish painter known for her large-scale oil paintings that capture quiet, overlooked moments and quirky scenes. The piece humorously depicts a woman in dark sunglasses and a bright red jumpsuit walking casually along a path next to a giant white chicken. It features bold color blocking, strong use of shadow, and a contrasting background of birch trees and colorful Nordic-style houses.

Curious about other cat folks' experiences with social yawning. I used to make my first cat yawn if I wanted to go to bed when he was clamoring for attention. He understood a lot of English, but yawning worked better when he was in party mode. I've never thought to do it with the current crowd.

I know a guy who says "hey fun fact" out of the blue, and the fun fact will be objectively, provably wrong. If you show him, he goes "no, I don't think so" or "I guess it's two ways." He did this with the spelling and etymology of a word the first time I met him in 2016. Fuckit. Give him a podcast.
