Imagine losing species before we've even discovered them. For fungi, that's already happening. Fungi help plants thrive, store carbon and support ecosystems. Yet they're being lost before we even know they exist. Donate today and help bring fungi out of the shadows🍄- joinplantlife.org/46Ofr6m
Promotional graphic with the headline “Bring Fungi Out of The Shadows” and the subheading “Help Save the World We Cannot See” in large white text on a black background. A brightly illuminated Green Elfcup fungus emerges from dark woodland debris in the lower half of the image, creating a striking contrast against the surrounding darkness. The image has a dramatic, spotlight-like effect that emphasises the rarely seen beauty of fungi.

Fantastic display of sowbread (Cyclamen hederifolium) in the churchyard. Presumably the common name originates from the practice of allowing pigs to rootle for the corms in winter. #botany #wildflowers #plantcommonnames

Dear councils, 97% of UK meadows are gone. So if you have wildflowers like ox-eye daisies on roadverges and in public spaces, don't spray them with weedkiller or over-mow them. Let's give pollinating insects like bees and butterflies a chance 🐝

Different bumblebee species like to nest in different places, including long, tangled grass, bird boxes, and underground in abandoned rodent holes. They can even nest in more creative places, like under the edge of a pond. What is the most interesting place you have found a bumblebee nest?

In a dormouse nest box. Almost certainly tree bumblebees (Bombus hypnorum) In May they mistook us for badgers causing our hurried retreat, but on Friday the colony had shut down for the winter.

Polanski calls for report on ecosystem collapse to be published in full
Green leader says ministers must stop ‘hiding the truth’ about threat to UK security from climate and nature crisis Zack Polanski will challenge Andy Burnham’s government to publish an unredacted version of an explosive report by the UK’s spy chiefs that found the collapse of overseas ecosystems would have catastrophic consequences for the UK’s national security. The Green party leader in England will demand that the prime minister come clean about the scale and impact of the climate and nature crisis and call on the government to publish in full the report that warns the UK faces devastating security consequences.
