Freyja Domville @freyjadomville.co.uk · 17hUnknowingly going through perimenopause-like symptoms between the ages of 17-25. HRT made my hot flashes *better* once I started at age 29. 050

Here are some reasons I use it: - Slow Internet on an airplane - I’m over 40, I have no idea who that celebrity is - Bluesky broke images again - My vision sucks and that text is too small to read otherwise - Conveys further context and authorial intent 12770272084
Freyja Domville @freyjadomville.co.uk · 07/10/2026This is useful if I end up moving (possible as I am mid process for a couple of interviews so I can be with my fiancée), thanks 010
Freyja Domville @freyjadomville.co.uk · 07/10/2026IIRC the ebuild packages the underlying source repo and the PKGBUILD in the AUR seems to unzip the RPM in a manner that segfaults 000
Freyja Domville @freyjadomville.co.uk · 07/10/2026Oh no, I am getting Gentoo brainwormed again (because I despise how AMF is packaged in the AUR where Gentoo's core repo ebuild seems a touch more sane) 100
Freyja Domville @freyjadomville.co.uk · 02/10/2026So yeah, you should try estrogen or testosterone! If it makes you more relaxed and able to be the good little ball of gendered gremlin energy you've always wanted to be, don't let a timeline intimidate you. Some bits will suck, admin especially, but it's mostly better. <3 010
Freyja Domville @freyjadomville.co.uk · 02/10/2026The people in my life care most about my kindness. The fact I am also hot to them is a bonus. The timelines are fascinating, I get it, but the last decade has taught me that I'm best when I just do the thing that feels right. Don't rush. I started HRT at 29. I know how cute I am. I weaponise it~ 110
Freyja Domville @freyjadomville.co.uk · 02/10/2026Thing is, I actually held off because I was in denial about how shit like timelines affected me. I became too insular, depressed, I did things for other people's benefit, not my own. The twink 15 years ago thought he didn't matter. The scared little boy 22 years ago was the counterpoint. 100
Freyja Domville @freyjadomville.co.uk · 02/10/2026I have been reliably informed I look pretty but many folks. I know that I brush up well and I can play the femme-fatale on a sapphic arm, or the butch in jeans, a smart blouse and a blazer. But the best thing is just that I am myself, minus the horrors that persisted before. It let me start therapy. 100
Freyja Domville @freyjadomville.co.uk · 02/10/2026I guess I just worry in this era of being terminally vigilant about how we exist in the world that a timeline is one more thing that's used against us. Passing is bullshit anyways. YMMV. My inner gremlin just wants to be in a comfy hoodie without having the discomfort HRT fixed for me. <3 100
Freyja Domville @freyjadomville.co.uk · 02/10/2026In other words: "do shit because you want to, not because you feel pressured to by someone timeline-posting on a social media site". Fuck, detransition if you think it isn't right after trying. People who judge you for that aren't friends of yours. Just... don't assume the default settings are best. 100
Freyja Domville @freyjadomville.co.uk · 02/10/2026Yes, take the damn meds... if they make you feel better or if you think they help. They helped me. My life is better for it. Yet timeline-posting is that double-edged sword of absurd expectations mixed with hope. What I looked like in the past doesn't matter enough to share. Who I am now does. 110
Freyja Domville @freyjadomville.co.uk · 02/10/2026I get that transition timelines are affirming to post and a way to help people who are just starting to think about transitioning but I just... it feels like there's an infohazard here by being open about what they looked like before HRT. Like they are putting themselves up to be a target. 110
Freyja Domville @freyjadomville.co.uk · 30/09/2026I sometimes regret not doing linguistics or psychology at uni - they've been the two sub-topics that keep coming back through weird circuitous routes after the linear algebra is out of the way. Given the state of the industry the subjectivity if dev is going to be increasingly more important. 001
Freyja Domville @freyjadomville.co.uk · 26/09/2026The refresh might keep me busy once my body allows me to anyway 😅 000
Freyja Domville @freyjadomville.co.uk · 26/09/2026Given my own expertise with web accessibility, I know I would appreciate being told myself if it had come up with my own refresh! As much as my NDC Porto '25 content still hasn't made it to my site yet... (ME/CFS challenges this year) 010
Freyja Domville @freyjadomville.co.uk · 26/09/2026I agree it does pretty well! Reminds me I need to review and refresh my own site once I have landed something new :) 110
Freyja Domville @freyjadomville.co.uk · 26/09/2026The Pixel 10 is quite a wide viewport potentially, this is a screenshot on my Pixel 6 when it comes to the long text in the header. My minimum these days thanks to the Galaxy S20 is to aim for a minimum width of 325px, but this is around 360px IIRC. I don't have any special text size settings. 110
Freyja Domville @freyjadomville.co.uk · 26/09/2026Hey! Looks pretty swish! Can I please suggest that you take a look at the site on mobile or a narrow viewport? The header in particular is clipping some things and therefore you might need a rework of a couple of things in the layout. :) 210
Freyja Domville @freyjadomville.co.uk · 24/09/2026I guess in case it comes up - the main reason I say ME/CFS instead of long COVID is that I had my first really bad episode of PEM about 20 years ago. COVID probably did exacerbate what's there though! 010
Freyja Domville @freyjadomville.co.uk · 24/09/2026Graded Exercise Therapy for those with Post-Exertional Malaise? Surely that's like saying the cure for arachnophobia is spiders!? Or worse, doing intensive ABA therapy with the goal of conformity on autistic people?! Sure, CBT helps, but only for the trauma surrounding it, not the symptoms itself. 100
Freyja Domville @freyjadomville.co.uk · 24/09/2026Honestly realising that a lot of the issues I have had with orthostatic intolerance are actually probably ME/CFS and not something like POTS/MCAS (though I still get the skin writing for example) has made me glad for the understanding, but my god this is bleak to reconcile sometimes... 110
Freyja Domville @freyjadomville.co.uk · 24/09/2026Keep going! I will be a couple of months behind after this flu but I am going to make the most of this body while I still can, and sustainably. Stuff like this helps those of us in recovery stay motivated! 020
Freyja Domville @freyjadomville.co.uk · 24/09/2026I miss cohost for exactly this reason. It felt different, but hosting costs are expensive. Improving accessibility of messaging that's community focused and not ad-riddled is gonna need to be a factor too. I would be thinking about this in my spare time were it not for my recent PEM episodes. 😔 010
Freyja Domville @freyjadomville.co.uk · 24/09/2026I despise how this gets worse if you have red-green colour blindness because then telling which line is which is even more of a chore for someone not local 020
Freyja Domville @freyjadomville.co.uk · 24/09/2026Having rediscovered last month that I get post-exertional malaise (I am on the mild end of the scale and my symptoms may have been exacerbated by long COVID, but I remember an episode when I was a teen), thank you for covering this. It needs talking about more. 0161
Freyja Domville @freyjadomville.co.uk · 24/09/2026Hey, just reminding you of the messages I left you on Discord a week or so ago as you're somewhat new to being on the other side <3 000
Freyja Domville @freyjadomville.co.uk · 23/09/2026Right, yes, I will get on that, right away! ETA for completion: the heat death of the universe 030
Freyja Domville @freyjadomville.co.uk · 23/09/2026Sadly we only have classical teleportation (public transit, cars, and planes) because there is a Ship of Theseus issue otherwise. I am not equipped to fix this issue as much as I would like to. 131
Freyja Domville @freyjadomville.co.uk · 08/09/2026Also English is still a valid language for Irish citizenship seemingly so this is just a similar move to what would have otherwise happened. It's not like the Dutch system where B1 is now essentially the minimum standard for new applicants. 100
Freyja Domville @freyjadomville.co.uk · 04/09/2026Your role as a GM is at its finest when you have let the players build up to the crescendo with you. You are the conductor of the string quartet. Play into their backstory, make them feel included with a little nod if something fits well enough. Most importantly, just have fun! Embrace the Kolo Way. 010
Freyja Domville @freyjadomville.co.uk · 04/09/202610 years of social transition. Fuck. What a difference a decade makes. No regrets, just tradeoffs. <3 020
Freyja Domville @freyjadomville.co.uk · 02/09/2026My 7900XTX is still going strong though I may repaste it once we get past owning it 6 years. 3x8-pins, arguably CPU limited (5900X). 120
Freyja Domville @freyjadomville.co.uk · 30/08/2026Like, it's literally right next door and feels like HE's white whale given what they did to the Shrewsbury Flaxmill Maltings 020
Freyja Domville @freyjadomville.co.uk · 30/08/2026Mine is The Machanic's Institute in Swindon, which the council actually wants to do something about! But it's privately owned and they don't have the funding. As an ex-HE employee it was always a little bit of an ironic thing to go past on my way to their Swindon office from home/the station. 110
Freyja Domville @freyjadomville.co.uk · 25/08/2026Make a band bigger*: Jimmy Eat Galaxy (Unless it was the confectionery I suppose) 000
Freyja Domville @freyjadomville.co.uk · 23/08/2026Heck, while you're at it, make it so that we actually have decent provision for luggage generally that doesn't cause all the stress of getting on the train with someone bickering about where luggage should be placed. With GWR services 3.5x more expensive per km than NS, I'd expect a better service! 010
Freyja Domville @freyjadomville.co.uk · 23/08/2026I want to love UK public transit more than I do. I already love the bits of cycling in the UK that are *really* good. But getting to those parts to experience them is a nightmare. So please, @heidialexander.bsky.social - when you are planning for future rolling stock, please consider cyclists more! 110
Freyja Domville @freyjadomville.co.uk · 23/08/2026Case in point - I can get a seat on these services, most of the time, without needing to reserve - yet luggage space is so tiny that my 20-inch folder (which policy says I shouldn't need a reservation for) can't fit because someone has already put their pram in the most suitable space. 100
Freyja Domville @freyjadomville.co.uk · 23/08/2026Sure, folders get away with the luggage racks, if you're small enough. Speaking of, don't get me started on the Voyagers and Pendolinos! They're even worse and it sucks that a "Cross Country" service provider uses cabins and storage that's so claustrophobic, and that the WCML is just as bad. 100
Freyja Domville @freyjadomville.co.uk · 23/08/2026The other thing that sucks with UK cycling is getting between cities - GWR's HSTs are terrible for bikes, it's woefully inadequate and 4(!) spaces on a 9 car train isn't enough! We should have sufficient capacity on our network so that all cyclists could use them without needing to reserve spaces. 100
Freyja Domville @freyjadomville.co.uk · 23/08/2026Am I spoiled by seeing how much better things are in NL? Yeah! Swindon still sucks by having so many giant car parks on the edge of major roads instead of interspersed in the community, but that's a Very Different Problem and at Swindon has the feasibility of cycling to The Orbital at least. 100
Freyja Domville @freyjadomville.co.uk · 23/08/2026Becuase frankly the grade-separation on busier routes, especially up towards Summertown and (in some cases) Jericho is only something I tolerate because I have launch control on my bike (an e-bike with a 250W motor to get me up to speed so cars don't overtake as I'm setting off) 100
Freyja Domville @freyjadomville.co.uk · 23/08/2026"more pleasant than Oxford" is the case for one reason: Bus Lanes Should Not Be Bike Lanes! Cycling in Oxford is only pleasant around the ZEZ because car traffic is low. In suburbia the designated routes (besides the towpath) are almost all shared use with cars in ways that feel less safe. 110
Freyja Domville @freyjadomville.co.uk · 23/08/2026Don't believe me? Look at this map: www.openstreetmap.org#map=13/51.57.... Almost all of the blue is grade-separated. It's not perfect, but it's pretty extensive, and the only pain spot is getting over the railway line on occasion, but otherwise it's more pleasant than even Oxford.openstreetmap.orgOpenStreetMapOpenStreetMap is a map of the world, created by people like you and free to use under an open license. 100
