Thank you. I'd assumed David Austin just sold their modern (albeit beautiful) roses, so hadn't investigated the shop before.

I've decided to compile a definitive thread of photos of the best sheep I've photographed during my walks in the countryside, together with supporting biographical information. I will put the vital story associated with each sheep in the alt text, since some of it is a little long to fit in a post.
A nihilistic sheep, who, like so many other sheep, just wants to watch the world burn, staring at me insouciantly, moments after it has set fire to a large portion of the United Kingdom.

It's 8.40pm and I'm in bed, and it's nice and I'm tired and looking forward to sleep. The sun won't set for an hour, but luckily I have blackout curtains. My teenage self would be appalled. (Tbf, it seems a pity to waste a lovely summer evening, but - tired.)

The Society of Children’s Book Writers and Illustrators (SCBWI), and the children’s book world, is saddened by the news that author, mentor and friend, Jane Yolen, has died. She was 87 and her loss cannot be measured. Please find the full obituary here: www.scbwi.org/remembering-...

He may well not even realise how feeble he is. I've known more than a few men who imagine themselves so much better than they are, even in a gym class with a mirror that should show them how little they're doing.

The older generation - of which the Princess Royal is really the last senior member - knew the provenance is a bit dodgy. The newer lot, in which I include Camilla, don't know and/or don't care. Very much hoping for a scandal when something they shouldn't own comes out at a very public event.

One thing that was interesting is that my eyes got really dry (diabetes symptom) and made contact lenses uncomfortable. As soon as I'd lost a decent amount of weight, the dryness disappeared!

What worked well for me was making large pans of tasty soup full of vegetables, beans, pulses, and eat lots of it. Filling, healthy, and at least two or three meals a week sorted.

The same people who anointed Starmer, and are trying to anoint Farage, are looking for all and any kompromat on Polanski. When you read weird stories in the papers against Polanski, and they seem desperately thin, know that they went dumpster diving and that rubbish was all they could find.

Western Africa in general has a rich textile tradition. The noted Arab traveler Ibn Battutah once visited Kano, an ancient trading city in northern Nigeria, where he remarked on the indigo dye pits of Kofor Mata. Six hundred years later, those same pits are being used today.

My stone through-terrace faces North, so I only get direct (and oblique) sun through the big front windows at this time of year. So we stay cool in hot summers, which is an added bonus I didn't realise when we bought it. Much smaller windows on the hot side, and I have blackout blinds

Much easier to add heat to your body (more clothes, sitting on a radiator, clutching a HWB), than take it out, especially if you're active or can't get out of the sun.

First thing I did with my Suzi Pro when I got it in 2002 was get a small orifice flyer instead of the delta. Now I mainly use the baby bobbins and flyer (not the lace one) because I like to spin fine and fast.

Snap! Mine's the same colour. I use it for plying, mainly as I don't like the delta orifice. Hope the knee mends well.
