so... I just needed to put this out there again. despite all of this, I'm actively looking into ways to relieve my pain. I've already ordered some prism lens that stick onto my existing glasses that may help. that'll help me figure out whether that helps me enough to get by

I had an interview like a week after my surgery and still went while in pain bc it's that kinda job market. I sadly did not get the job. I can only barely get by atm because of work I'm doing for a friend but I'm ngl the debt has been racking up esp with hospital and eye doc bills

some days are better than others. things were looking up in august since I was finally able to save up after getting another job but my gallbladder said nope and I had to leave that job after getting sent to the ER/surgery/recovery. so I'm kinda fucked until I find something else

basically I just want to be able to read a book or documentation without constant eye pain and having to close one eye.. though it's not just about reading but day to day life stuff gets heavily affected by this. things like depth perception. so yeah. I'm frustrated to no end

so my hope is that when/if I get scleral lenses, I'll be able to see better in my right eye enough to relieve that eye strain and not have double vision. at least that's what I've been told makes sense. though even with scleral lenses I wouldn't have perfect vision

with glasses, my right eye struggles to read much of anything. with RGPs, I notice my right eye struggles a bit less but gets strained due my eyes drying out. I have prescription eye drops and other drops I apply when trying out RGPs but the problem still persists

my vision literally blurs to an extreme that I feel almost blind with RGPs or regular contacts on despite my vision clearly being better. so I'm left with the same answer I had before. scleral lenses. they're specialized contact lenses that work exactly for this problem

I can't wear normal contacts, I can't wear hard contacts like RGPs because I have really bad dry eyes, which comes with the keratoconus territory, but when I say I can't because I have dry eyes I don't mean it's painful (it is) I mean that--

I wish my problem were as simple as "I have BVD and prism glasses will fix everything" but it's just one factor. due to my keratoconus my right eye is significantly weaker than my left, which causes an imbalance in vision overall

apparently some people with BVD test positive for ADHD but in reality only had BVD... in my case, I'm actually just fucked and have both because my ADHD habits aren't all explained by the BVD but they definitely make the ADHD worse

the only reason I've made progress in any of this eye stuff is because I had to press multiple doctors about it. you'd think they'd catch most of these problems but nope. you gotta know what to ask about in a way that makes sense for them to check

it really sucks how my eye issues play into my adhd issues since the eye pain makes it hard to even want to sit down and focus on reading literally anything. it's also hard to read with double vision even if it's so minuscule. the subtle deviation completely fucks with my brain

I tried ordering new glasses and got rejected bc the prescription was too strong lol but I at least now know that I definitely have BVD bc of my right eye being so weak. so hopefully minimal prism relieves some eye strain. idk how that'll hold up w/o fixing the underlying issue

I've had so many blunders with my eye stuff lately that I've just not posted about because I feel like I've complained enough for a thousand years but holy shit. I went in for my 12th eye doctor visit of the year last week and it only somewhat helped. I finally got a prism script
