15 October 1888. A “Letter From Hell” along with part of a human kidney was sent to George Lusk, Chairman of the Whitechapel Vigilance Committee (right). The author of the letter claimed to be serial killer “Jack the Ripper”.

12 October 1971. Rock ‘n’ Roll star Gene Vincent died (aged 36) from a ruptured stomach ulcer. His 1956 Top Ten hit Be-Bop-a-Lula is considered a rock ‘n’ roll classic. In 1998, he was inducted into the Rock and Roll Hall of Fame.

3 October 1938. Eddie Cochran was born in Albert Lea, Minnesota, USA. His guitar sound was years ahead of its time. He had 11 UK Top 40 hits including No 1 Three Steps to Heaven. His other big hits were Twenty Flight Rock, Summertime Blues, C'mon Everybody and Somethin' Else.

29 September 1935. Jerry Lee Lewis was born in Ferriday, Louisiana, USA. He was a pioneer of rock ‘n’ roll, with a distinctive piano style. His 1957 hit Whole Lotta Shakin’ Goin’ On was a worldwide hit and was followed by Great Balls of Fire and Breathless.

27 September 1888. The name “Jack the Ripper” was used for the 1st time in an anonymous letter sent to the Central News Agency. It’s thought the person who wrote the letter was most probably a journalist not the actual serial killer.

27 September 1825. Britain’s 1st public railway service to use steam locomotives began with the official opening of the Stockton and Darlington Railway. The line connected coal mining collieries near Shildon with Stockton-on-Tees and Darlington in County Durham.

I would have started Isidor as Bassey and Andersen are the sort of centre halfs that can stand up to Brobbey. But is it more likely we see Brobbey start to wear them down, then send on Isidor rather than try it the other way around? Is there a scenario where one starts over the other?

FACT OF THE DAY. 5 July 1948. Britain’s National Health Service came into operation. It was led by Aneurin Bevan, Labour’s Health Minister. It offered treatment free at the point of delivery to all citizens irrespective of income. It’s one of the most important social reforms in British history.
