This part interests me. The Goron tunic is smooth material decorated with stones, the Zora one is scaly with embroidered designs. So we have elemental texturing, effectively.

Yeah video goes straight from your graphics card to your monitor, it skips Windows' renderer generally. That'd be why it switches when I hover over the controls. There's an option to turn it off somewhere in Chrome right now. Currently searching for it...

This was my exact response. View 1 it felt like "I asked AI to make what if ocarina of time was made today" but after a second viewing actually I really want it lol I can't tell if I settled into it (like those guys who were against Wind Waker Link in the reveal trailer) or if I became stupider

I think this is to do with nVidia's hardware acceleration. But might be worth watching it elsewhere, I noticed it looked much prettier when I watched it on my TV.

I think there are things like exaggerated normal mapping and overuse of environmental details we've seen amateur UE5 developers do a lot of and associated with that as well, and overdetail is clearly a conscious choice here.

But I also think that over-textured look is really confusing for our brains. I couldn't quite tell what I was looking at at first. Plus you can often tell a gamedev rookie by how they over-texture everything and blow out the details, although it is a conscious choice here that association remains.

Ahahaha. I think there's a major uncanny valley element, we all saw something we know very well, except all weird and different, there's real psychology in that. In my case I saw a lot of what appear to be game dev no-nos which are often associated with fan games.

I feel less repulsed by Ocarina of Time today than I did initially, though my reservations around fangame-like over-texturing remain. I do think there's uncanny valley revulsion when we've been so used to seeing the original. I do like the adult link sections in the trailer.
