In the face of generative AI coding agents, the role of human-led architecture becomes even more important in the crafting of software-intensive systems.

Frankly, I find relegating hiring to an AI incredibly off-putting. I would never consider working for a company that thinks the hiring decision is so unimportant that it doesn't need to involve humans. It doesn't bode well. 3/4

I am less worried about the cyber attacks from Ai agents and more about the cyber attacks against Ai agents. The first would be an attacker using a model to carry out attacks. LLMs often make this annoyingly hard, they refuse too much. To jailbreak them you need trained criminals which are rare.

A fortnight of headlines about AI killing us all, and the thing actually coming at us is getting little attention as a result. It's not the models getting smarter, it's that we're wiring them up to everything, and nobody has worked out how to do that safely yet. blog.robbowley.net/2026/09/18/t...

Call me conspiranoic, but even all this stuff around "let's make a manifesto to prevent AI from going rogue and destroying us" is nothing but a maneuver to attract more investors. Like if this is potentially dangerous, it is also good.

In amongst all the AI madness, people seem to have forgotten that the point of working in very small increments with very frequent releases is to get feedback sooner so that we can adjust what we're building to best meet our customers' needs. 1/5

Btw I almost missed the point the article was making: do not unleash several agents working on stories in parallel. 💯 On that, as the feedback of usage from one slice could invalide or re-shape what comes next.

But I share the concerns about the delegation of understanding of the inner parts of the code. Maybe there is a balance that can be achieved, starting with acceptance tests, doing a shallow code review just making sure that the classes created make sense from a domain abstraction POV

Fran Díaz @frandayzdev.bsky.social · 13/09/2026
Agree with the article. However, from a cost/benefit standpoint, I also understand if ppl say that using agents costs money and it needs to speed up delivery. Doing outside-in TDD would achieve that theoretically it if just oversee the loop at acceptance-test level, more than inside-out.

Thing is that some proponents, like the article, say that outside-in TDD at API level leverages the AI fully since we write less code, while doing it at unit level creates a bottleneck on us. I do share your point that unit level keeps us closer to the inner loop and thus understanding.

I find it hard to imagine creating deterministic abstractions with non deterministic tools. But I can imagine iterating the design over higher abstractions like acceptance tests

Fran Díaz @frandayzdev.bsky.social · 12/09/2026
I don't remember the words exactly but it suggests that code is no longer for humans to read. But I believe we still need to oversee that good abstractions are created, even of we no longer look into those black boxes

Practices I Abandoned with Agents: An Ode to Test-Driven Development
After 25 years with TDD, we are now parting ways. The incremental TDD steps were great for human cognition, but didn't survive the transition to agentic coding.

Yeah I'm curious to see how it evolves. Maybe we need to develop other skills. Same way most engineers dropped low level coding (assembler, C) in favor of modern languages, perhaps we need to focus on BDD specs to drive the agents

Job applicants are using AI to write resumes and prep interview answers. Companies are using AI to screen those applications and conduct initial interviews. We’ve officially automated both sides of a process meant to measure human connection. The irony is genuinely unreal.

What’s the problem w using LLMs to write stuff you want other people to read -emails, articles, posts- and why are people (like me!) so incredibly hostile that they will block you/mute you/block your domain, to never read anything from you again? Bryan spells it out. Read it:

for the haters - bad news, i am afraid. literally every Fortune 500 company is using AI to develop their products and services. in many cases they're no longer even doing manual code review. i hate to break it to you, but if you won't use services built using AI you just checked out of modern life.

One hallmark of a lousy app is that it's chock full of features. A good app does one critical and necessary thing well. A pile of features typically does nothing but add clutter and make the app harder to use. 1/12

If everything is potentially a lie whom could you trust? How can we establish a sense of "truth" (knowing that our body of knowledge is not static and truths are scarce in a complex world)? GenAI brings doubts to the next level but the fields of the epistemic apocalypse were already well fertilized.

I honestly think Domain-Driven Design (DDD) is key with AI, as important as it was before AI, for a few different reasons. The main is that even the best models can't design a good domain model... but they can help you to create a better one.

I look forward to hearing more from you on functional programming. If I learned one thing from Domain Modeling made Functional from Scott Wlaschin, is that functional programming is not necessarily at odds with proper software design

I guess we will trade review with oversight? Guiding the desired behavior with tests at the abstraction level that we can comprehend without necessarily looking at the implementation?

I think he's point is that human reviews can spot security vulnerabilities that otherwise would be overlooked. But from my experience at least, I don't remember catching those as part of code reviews, but rather use analysis tools 🤔

Agile Software Development is NOT break big projects into small sprints. Agile Software Development IS build something, then iterate. I have seen so many teams spend extraordinary effort on the ceremony of Scrum, and never once manage or even try to put some early idea in the hands of users.

A vicious cycle of four steps surrounding a black cat with a thousand-yard stare and a dapper little tie. The four endlessly cycling steps read:

-going forward we're gonna need more of your data to make sure it's you

-ahaha youre not gonna believe this but we had a bit of a data breach

-your data is probably for sale online now

-that means someone could easily impersonate you
