Different colored Magikarps from Magikarp jump and two Ditto shaped lumps colored grey with a question mark on top.

Finally got my Mycologist's Primer book and other goodies. Honestly the flash cards box will be tossed and I'll store the cards in something else since it's way too big for this amount of cards and too big for the cards in general, specially once you take the extra insert out.

We've been asked recently, so I want to be sure we're honest about our AI policy.

Screencap from Kickstarter comments:
The backer: "Before I fully commit to pledging, I wanted confirmation that AI was NOT used for this book or any previous book in the "Primer" series."
The Double Proficiency response: "Oh, I can 100% assure you that all illustrations have been drawn by my arthritic hands and I'd rather put the whole project (and myself) in a blender than use AI to write it. No AI, ever."

Someone said to me, "I'm sorry but I got your book from a library." Nobody should ever apologise for that. You read my book! That's brilliant! I grew up hanging out in libraries and the idea of a world without them fills me with dread. Without libraries, authors, like readers, will only suffer.

Next Saturday you can find me at Akakabutocon Tampere. The sea theme goes well with me, but naturally you can find other things too, so feel free to visit me and my table in the market hall. Maybe you can find an art treasure for yourself too! 💙

It's #InternationalBookGivingDay so I'll show you a book that I received as a gift earlier; Max & the miracle drum - a really cute story about calming music, imagination and many cool animals! The art flows like water and the covers feel soft to touch. I will forward it to my son - for reasons. ^^

1. I see elsewhere on Bluesky that the discourse has turned toward telling writers not to be ashamed to admit they have day jobs or other sources of income (or spousal/family financial support), and you know what, that's 100% correct. Day jobs and support from loved ones are great if you have them!
