This image shows a famous view of the Nidelva river and the historic warehouses that line it, as seen from the Old Town Bridge or Gamle Bybro, otherwise known as the Portal of Happiness. (Crossing the bridge is supposed to bring eternal happiness to those who complete the round trip.) On the left and right, colorful historic warehouses line the Nidelva, converging to a vanishing point in the center of the frame vertically and slightly to the right horizontally. The warehouses have a rich, deep palate consisting of yellows, reds, and olive greens. The waters of the Nidelva are nearly perfectly still, allowing clear reflections of the warehouses that follow them into the distance. Above the buildings and sky is the cloudy Trondheim sky, mostly grays and whites but with a hint of blue at the vanishing point. The image is finished by the appearance of wheeling gulls and other waterfowl here and there.

ENG: Where time seems to stand still: The warm light of the Brandenburg sun gently filters through the arcades of the former Cistercian monastery in Chorin. Founded in 1258, the complex served as the spiritual center of the region until its secularization in 1542. Today, this significant architectural monument in northern Brandenburg captivates visitors as one of the most impressive examples of North German Brick Gothic and can be explored for a small fee, including the exhibition. In the high halls, traces of rise and decline merge into an atmosphere of timeless beauty. A place where every stone breathes history and the silence of the centuries becomes palpable.

GER: Wo die Zeit stillzustehen scheint: Das warme Licht der märkischen Sonne wandert sanft durch die Arkaden des ehemaligen Zisterzienserklosters Chorin. Im Jahr 1258 gegründet, fungierte die Anlage bis zur Säkularisation 1542 als das geistige Zentrum der Region. Heute fasziniert dieses bedeutende Baudenkmal im Norden Brandenburgs als eines der eindrucksvollsten Beispiele norddeutscher Backsteingotik und kann für einen schmalen Taler samt Ausstellung erkundet werden.
