Frank Parisio @fparisio.bsky.social · 11/07/2026Very cool work. From the look of the top two photos, is this wetland a “patterned bog”? 111
Frank Parisio @fparisio.bsky.social · 24/05/2026I’ve worked extensively freshwater wetlands in the Catskills and mid and lower Hudson Valley region with freshwater wetlands. Mostly focused on water quality influence. DOC is an area I find myself studying more and more of in light of the wetland carbon sink/source balance. 010
Frank Parisio @fparisio.bsky.social · 23/05/2026This is cool. I’ve spent many many years exploring wetlands in the Adirondacks. Is your mapping for a specific project or interest? 100

Frank Parisio @fparisio.bsky.social · 12/11/2025Mike, we use HOBO U-20 unvented water table loggers. Either the 13 foot or 30 foot depth units. They are accurate and very durable and have a pretty loving life span depending on recording frequency. Equipment is made by a company called OnsetComp. And you can order right from their website. 110
Frank Parisio @fparisio.bsky.social · 06/11/2025A beautiful carpet bog in the southwestern Catskills range of New York State. November here provides days of stark colorful contrasts of leatherleaf, tamarack, Sphagnum mosses and the snowy white tufts of Eriophorum virginicum or cotton grass sedge. This peatland is a research site for the NYC DEP. 140

Frank Parisio @fparisio.bsky.social · 11/10/2025Mosquito fern (Azolla cristata) in the mid-Hudson Valley region of New York State. Although not listed as protected or rare in the state, sightings of it are somewhat uncommon throughout the region. Azolla is within the the Salviniaceae family and they are aquatic ferns. 020
