This is the way. I've got 2 optiplex's and a handful of other thin client machines that make up the majority of my homelab.

A dusty dell optiplex 3070 sits on top of the back of a server rack with an equally dusty optiplex 3050. Both are on and, of course, serving critical infrastructure.

Of those stacks there's only ~15 containers that handle plex and media-related stuff. But yeah, for some of my friends they've cancelled their subscriptions and just use my plex server now! I still pay for streaming services that are giving me good value.

YW! Also another correct VM only has 6 cores, the other VM on this machine has 10 cores. It's easy to oversubscribe vCPUs, especially with the igpu, since the workload is infrequent and sporadic as it transcodes/transmits chunks only as its streamed.

Internet is symmetrical 1 gig but plex rarely uses more than 200mbps and its in 1-2 bursts. I could easily handle 3-4x concurrent users. The biggest gamechanger is the intel igpu. Takes all the load off the cpu and system ram. It handles 1080p/4k for all my users without breaking a sweat.

I have ~40 users but only ~20 active in the last month. In the last 90 days, 8 concurrent streams was the peak usage. This runs on a VM w/ an i5-13400 using 10 cores and the iGPU for transcoding. Plex itself uses less than 4GB of ram but the system has 24GB for other services and system.

p.s. you should try logging out and logging back in to rocksky to see if it fixes your current issue. rocksky dev changed some auth things last week that required log out/in for most users.

at least if scrobble doesn't meet the standard you'll have immediate feedback in MS about it with the option to update it (functionality TBA). and if it does meet the quality standard it's directly written to your pds so no more rocksky server blackbox.

the next iteration of the rocksky client for multi-scrobbler will do everything in-house and directly write scrobbles to your PDS, similar to how teal works now. MS will take over the role of "gatekeeper of metadata quality" so rocksky still won't be an exhaustive source of truth but...

I don't know anything about the lorenz attractor other than it's cool math that makes cool visualizations, from stuff like electric sheep screensaver. How does this actually work? I assumed there was an "attractive" force in the middle but this is based on gravity? What is the underlying pattern?

I'm impressed yours are still in working condition. The insane optical/electrical wiring was so flaky and was the reason I had to get rid of it, eventually. Impossible to fix without going to a saab specific mechanic and expensive...

I would like to use git-blame-ignore to help with a full project lint/formatting pass but the extra, manual steps to make it usable on a clean clone have always put me off using it.

Related to your PR, how do you deal with using .git-blame-ignore as part of dev experience? My understanding is that this file can't be versioned since it needs to go in the .git folder (I think?). Or if it is versioned a dev has to manually move it when cloning. Is there more foolproof way?
