Some say that making a smaller game or simpler game are ways to cut down on dev time. This is also true. But if you're making a game of any size that has any sort of consistent production methodology, a good way to make everything take longer is to change standards and pipelines in production.

RSE was a great place to start my career. It provided stability in an even-then pretty volatile industry. Veteran devs worked there. Obviously, that changed. And now they’ve tossed what talent remained. RSE is good. Ubisoft, not so much. A lot of talented people are in a tough spot now.
