Reform UK, Plaid Cymru and the Conservatives have all expressed their support for a badger cull in Wales, with only the Greens and Labour standing up for badgers. This is absolutely devastating news. A cull hasn't yet been officially announced, but a decision is expected any time.

I think I'm interrupting a wedding at the church in the model village...🤔 Nice lychgate though. #lychgate #photo #modelvillage
A photo taken at Godshill Model Village on the Isle of Wight showing a church lychgate looking through to a wedding party in the distance near the church itself. The photo is taken from ground level to make it look more like a full size lychgate and church.

The lychgate is a timber structure with a pitched roof, painted black. A clock with a blue face and brass hands sits centred on the front face of the roof. The whole thing is surrounded by trees and shrubs.

Thinking about the bookshop article I linked to earlier. Doesn't matter what you read or how you start. I go back to books I read when I was younger. Two of my favourites below. I read to my grandson, sometimes for nostalgia, and always for the magic of stories. Anyone else do the same? #books
Cover for the hardback edition of "Johnny and the Bomb" by Terry Pratchett. Published in 1996.

Image is of a WW2 type bomb falling from a red night sky against a silhouetted town skyline. An arm and hand is out stretched as if to catch the bomb. The arm has a digital watch on it.

This book is part of the Johnny Maxwell series. All of three of the books in the series are great. I was older than the target age group for the book at release but it's such a delightful story.Cover of the hardback edition of Jackanory Stories - The Adventures of Johnny Briggs" by Joan Eadington. Stories were published between 1977 and 1979.

The image on the cover shows a boy and his dog dancing in a cobbled street. A couple of men in cloth caps watch on amused and a series of terraced houses can be seen in the background. The style of the drawing is a loose sketched style. I believe the illustrations are by William Marshall.

I think this book was purchased for me around 1981 or 1982. I loved the illustrations and the stories bring back so many happy memories.Back cover of the hardback edition of Jackanory Stories - The Adventures of Johnny Briggs" by Joan Eadington. Stories were published between 1977 and 1979.

The image on the back cover is a continuation of the drawing from the front. It shows more people, including women and children, watching the boy and dog dance. A factory billows out smoke from its chimneys in the distance.
