I think this could be one of the most dangerous points in Russia's unjust war in Ukraine. Yes, Ukraine has fought well and held out better than anyone ever expected, and yes, its attacks on Russian infrastructure seem to be effective. But there are still at least two more years of a Trump […]

But realistically, to maintain control while suffering huge losses, you need some victories. Even Abraham Lincoln was nearly voted out of office in 1864 amid terrible casualty numbers, before the fall of Vicksburg and Atlanta gave him some good news. Similarly, the Allied casualties in D-Day […]

As others have observed, the Russia's losses limit Vladimir Putin's options, and make him more desperate and dangerous. And it seems like he's willing to play his Trump card, leaning Donald Trump to withdraw logistical support from Ukraine and start funding the Russian side of the war through […]

Obviously, the war has taken a toll on Ukraine as well, with casualties around 500,000-600,000 and civilians killed (12,000) and captured (16,000). But the Russian numbers are staggering, and even a superpower cannot sustain losses like that forever--logistically, militarily, or socially. 5/ […]

But September 2026 was an especially bad month for Russian casualties, and it's easy to draw the wrong conclusions from outlier data. It may be more fair to look at an average over the entire war since Russia invaded Ukraine in late February 2022. Over those 54 months, Russia has reportedly […]

To top the single month numbers of Russia's casualties in September 2026, you would have go back to the American Civil War, where the caasualties on both sides are counted, and even then, only Gettysburg (~51,000) could exceed that number. 3/
A vertical bar graph with the title "The American Civil War Casualty" and the casualty numbers for the 10 deadliest battles:

Vicksburg: 19,203
Bull Run: 22,180
Sharpsburg: 22,717
Murfreesboro: 23,515
Shiloh: 23,746
Chancellorsville: 24,000
Wilderness: 29,800
Spotsylvania: 30,000
Chikamauga: 34,624
Gettysburg: 51,000

Obviously, the 46,000 figure is an estimate, it may be higher or lower, but even if it is over-estimated, it is still SHOCKINGLY high. To put it into a perspective that Americans might be more familiar with, that is close to 5x the casualties of the combined Allied forces on D-Day. 2/ […]

As U.S. President Donald Trump appears to be taking the side of Russia in its war on Ukraine, it feels like the Kremlin is putting desperate pressure on Trump before he may lose congressional support in the 2026. I assume that desperation is related to the Russian casualties, which hit 46,000 […]

The wealthy parents behind the curtain
A four-panel comic:

Panel 1: A magician on stage dressed in a tuxedo, flourising a top hat, tells the audience "And for my next trick ..."

Panel 2: The magician pulls a document titled "DEED" from his hat, and a woman with two children appears next to him, as he tells the audieince "I'll purchase a home on a single income while my partner stays at home to raise our kids!"

Panel 3: The audience applauses enthusiastically.

Panel 4: One audience member stands and points backstage, where an older man and woman are partiallyl seen holding a sack of money marked "$." The audience member shouts "I can see his parents financially assisting him behind the curtain!" The magician on stage has a guilty look on his face and drops his top hat.
