Your monthly reminder: Keep writing. When no one cares, persist. When things appear to be crumbling, keep at it. When it's difficult, push through. When you feel alone, listen to the stories in your blood. Just write. The world needs your stories.

A book is brand new every time someone reads it for the first time. There's no such thing as coming late to any story.

Copy that! Spoiler alert: I asked my artist awhile back if I could "write like I'm taking the kid gloves off". I got the OK. 😉

Hoping for more great horror in 2025. I want more LGBTQ+ horror, more horror from BIPOC writers, more horror mixed with whatever authors love. I want more smart, unique horror that doesn't care about being easy to digest. I want more horror full of positionality. I want it all.

LGBTQ+ horror, eh? I actually wrote something equal to that a few months ago. I think this is my sign to go back to it. Thanks for the heads up, Gabino! ❤️

It's that time again, for #FactualFriday! Did you know? Duukeaus sequences in Issue one were directly inspired by Mega Man X, namely, the ghostly hologram recordings of Dr.Light each time X received a new body upgrade.

SURPRISE BONUS TRIVIA! Did you know? Issue #1, namely the beginning Duukeau resurrecting Kamara and her regrowth afterwards, was heavily inspired by Dark Souls 1. The idea of coming back from the dead, lost and without memory was an incredibly intriguing concept. See you next #FactualFriday!

A true classic! Let's just say, a certain authors mother allowed her 7 year old son to watch Heavy Metal on VH1 way back in the 90s, And that's directly what inspired BeastLore! 🙃 #FactualFridays

Celebrate other people’s victories and achievements. Cheer on people when they’re doing well and if they need extra encouragement and assurance be there for them. The world could always need some extra encouragement, empathy and kindness I’m just saying. There’s never enough of that in my opinion. ❤️

In elementary school, my teacher told my mother I was “unteachable.” I was behind in every subject, including reading. Then I found this one book in the school library and connected with it, reading it hundreds of times. I made a career in reading, writing, and editing. That’s what a book can do.

The Grinch was a book and a nice cartoon you would see among holiday specials and it was sweet, a message about how Christmas comes from the heart. And now. Grinch merchandise every year to the point of nausea because that was such a great message and this is the licensed hell we live in

Time for a new thing: Factual Fridays! Every Friday, I'm gonna post some trivia/ easter eggs relating to BeastLore. Example: Did you know? Every issue released, (and onward) is named after a song, or album. Issue #1 is, "Death Magnetic", and Issue #2 is, "Ride the Lightning". Can you guess why?

Write that thing. Pluck it outta your soul with rusty pliers. Hit the keyboard like it owes you money. Write whenever, wherever you can. Tell your story. Make the words dance. Whatever you want—a novel, a short story, an agent, a movie—it all starts with the writing.

A story: Late December, (I wanna say 2021), we had booked an appearance at a local comic book store. 1.) The store manager had been up for several days, playing Spider-Man PS4. 2.) He forgot to make any mention or advertisement on his Facebook page. We had 4 sales in the 6 hours we were there. 😂

Depends on the puzzle! If you're sort of getting it after 5 minutes, you're fine you don't need help. If it's been 5 days? Hon just go look up a guide, don't worry about it. 😂

That's alright. Having a poor memory just means you have to keep more tabs on yourself. For example, me? I have to think back to how I spell Thel'Aticrus every so often. It's hectic, but it's worth it. (Note, the creator of JJBA Hirohiko Araki is also known for having a poor memory. But that's ok!)

For the winter season and generally any time for bad weather: Pre-check the weather conditions, even a week in advance. Fill your gas tank BEFORE it's snowing, as well as oil and any other necessities. Don't chance it, don't risk it. Always be prepared.

Writing Tip: The quality of your first draft does not represent the quality of the finished product. Far from it. Most first drafts are an incomprehensible mess. Quality shines in editing. Even a poorly-written draft can be polished into a diamond over time. #writing #writingtips #writingcommunity
