One thing about autonomous Waymo vehicles is that they have no skin in the game. A human driver constantly worries about dealing with insurance, prosecution, guilt and the like with each driving decision. A robot couldn’t care less about any ramifications of a poorly timed road decision. #waymo

As a life-long troubleshooter, my opinion is that the majority of the issues the US is experiencing are rooted in the idea of “oath of office”. An oath given by an untrustworthy person is not worth the breath expelled uttering that oath, and sadly, a violation of a solemn oath unenforceable.
