Hey, Big Apple! Next week, I'll be at @newyorkcomiccon.bsky.social for the first time in over a decade. I have no official duties yet, but if you spot me wandering around, be sure to say hi. And if you need someone for a panel/game/whatever. ping me. Hope to see you there!

The latest adventure for the Marvel Multiverse Role-Playing Game — Spider-Man: Midtown Mayhem — hits game stores today and comic stores tomorrow. It’s a 64-page comic-book-sized adventure that I wrote, with my son Marty doing his regular fantastic job with the character profiles.

I also spotted this at the Museum of Pop Culture, and it's just... wrong.

Readers! I'm going to be a guest at the Chippewa Valley Book Festival on October 23, talking about my work on Marvel Multiverse RPG and Minecraft novel and game books. There are even pre-parties at local libraries on 10/19 & 10/20 and a five-course tasting meal on 10/20!

No Dragon Con, PAX, or Grand Con for me this weekend. Far from the maddening crowds instead.

Caught up with @chuckwendig.bsky.social and saw him speak at @boswellbooks.bsky.social tonight and grabbed a copy of his latest triumph, CALAMITIES!

Gamers! My pal @rossisaacs.bsky.social (former developer for the Star Trek RPG among other great things) is still in desperate straits and can use your help. There are two easy ways to lend a hand:

Trying out this cool @fetchroasters.bsky.social coffee that @muskratjohn.bsky.social gave me, and it's an eye-opener! Better yet, part of the proceeds go to helping out dogs in need. Think I'll have another. :)

Go get this book. GOD EMPEROR DOOM COMMANDS IT!

This snazzy new book officially premieres tomorrow, and I cannot wait for you all to have a chance to play with it!

Another thing announced at Gen Con: Solo rules for the Marvel Multiverse RPG, written by the masterful Matt Kay! This is slated to be a PDF-only release debuting this fall. I'm only consulting on it, but I think you're going to like it!

Then a copy of the regular cover showed up at my house today, and it looks great too! Can't wait for you all to see it. It hits stores on August 18!

My favorite thing I saw at Gen Con was, of course, the new stuff for the @marvel Multiverse RPG. This includes the Dice of Doom set and the Battleworld playmat from @fanrolldice and the new Secret Wars Expansion that Marty, Alex Irvine, and I wrote, with the con-exclusive cover.

Matt Forbeck @forbeck.com · 07/08/2026

At Gen Con, Blake Shrode arranged for me to join the Halo 405th cosplay team for a photo shoot in the main hall. They were fantastic fun, and I saw a number of them later in the costume contest.

Hard to believe that Ghost Recon is 25 years old! I've worked on a number of games in the Ghost Recon line, including Ghost Recon Phantoms and Ghost Recon Wildlands — plus a few that never even got announced. Thanks to @rdansky.bsky.social for opening the door to that world for me!

Matt Forbeck @forbeck.com · 07/08/2026

One of the coolest things I saw at Gen Con was this official profile for Johnny Silverhand — from Cyberpunk Red — as a Marvel Multiverse RPG character. This was done as a swap, with Wolverine statted up for Cyberpunk Red. I had no idea it was happening till I got to the show!

Missing my dad today on the first anniversary of his death. Many days I think of the things he's missed since then and will never see, but I try to treasure all the time we had together instead.

Heading out to Gen Con! Tonight I host the Diana Jones Award party, and I can't wait to see so many wonderful folks, both tonight and all weekend long! Let's play!

Once again, I’m off to my favorite event of the year: Gen Con! I’ve gone to it every year since Gen Con XV back in 1982, which makes this my 45th year in a row. In other news, I ain’t getting any younger.

Gamers! I'm going to be a guest at EGG Con next week in beautiful Lake Geneva. Unfortunately, I can only make it out for Thursday and maybe Friday, so catch me when you can. I hope to see you there!

This new adventure for the Marvel Multiverse RPG is slated to hit stores on September 22. It's 64-pages, comic book-sized, and it features an opening comic scripted by Cody Ziglar and a complete adventure by me. I had a great time working on it, and I can't wait for you to play it!

He handed me the text —which he'd handwritten on vellum — and flat out told me he was nervous that I would mangle it. I was only 21 at the time, but that taught me quickly that my job as an editor wasn't to impose my voice on his work but help him clarify his own — which was brilliant.

I'm sad to hear that the legendary grimdark artist John Blanche has left us. I worked with John when I was at Games Workshop some 36 years ago, and I actually edited his first art book, RATSPIKE.

Last Sunday, we adopted his little ball of fur. Best we can tell, she's a two-year-old Yorkie/Affenpinscher mix, but either way she's clearly 100% adorable fun. Welcome to the household, Betty!

This weekend, my son Pat and his fiancé Emily brought home a 3-month old puppy! She has wild eyes (one brown and one bright blue) and is named Daisy. She's already making herself at home and brightening the place up.

Under Siege is sadly way down the list. However, for that other thought experiment, I'd read this comic:

Readers! My friends Jesse Scoble and Devinder Thiara — who've written great stuff for the Marvel RPG — are running a Kickstarter for the next two issues of their weird west comic book, DEAD MONEY. I loved the slow burn of the first issue, and this is where those sparks start to scorch.

THE CATS OF NEW ORLEANS Kickstarter is double-funded! Thanks to all the backers out there for your support! We still have 10 days and plenty of stretch goals to go — including this figure for the Stinkers: skunks working for the vermin army, stinking up the whole town!

I just finished reading an advanced copy of @billschweigart.bsky.social's upcoming novel, DIRTY 20. As a game designer and someone who loves tales of organized crime, this book seems almost purpose-written for me.
