rewatching river monsters and remembering why Jeremy Wade was my celebrity crush as a child dude is all green flags, he’s so respectful of the animals he encounters, and the people as well. you can see it in how so often he is welcomed into these communities, even with all the cameras

I'll say this as many times as it needs to be said. Save our Freaks. Don't mine the Deep. (also maybe unfollow NOAA. They're a disinformation account at this point. Fuck.)

a screenshot of a skeet from NOAA that says "These minerals are currently sitting atop the sea floor, waiting to be scooped up and processed. Through #NOAA’s mapping tech and licensing abilities, we are helping industry leaders find, collect and bring back these minerals to benefit the #USA & domestic manufacturing."

it makes me so sad whenever i see people talk about how “horrible” humans are and that we should go extinct because i see people every day fighting tooth and nail to protect the world we live in. millions of people all over the world are fighting to save our world, to protect the natural wonders.

“Cats in these situations can be described as subsidized predators, affecting not only native prey, but possibly out competing native predators.”

The blueberryboi Velvet spiders belong to the family Eresidae. This small group of spiders has about 100 species and is almost entirely limited to the Old World, with the exception of one species from Brazil. In Europe, some species are commonly called the ladybird spiders.

It's time to start reminding people: LILIES ARE DEADLY FOR CATS. The leaves, the petals, the stem, even drinking a bit of vase water or licking a few grains of pollen from their fur can cause fatal kidney failure. ⚠️ www.fda.gov/animal-veter...

Have you stopped to appreciate a cockroach lately? Cockroaches get a lot of unjustified hate for simply existing. Species like this yellow glass cockroach (Chorisoneura sp.) from Ecuador can be charming if you take the time to view them in a positive light. I think it's beautiful!

The theme is #rattlesnakes and here's a Blacktail Rattlesnake (Crotalus molossus). I often see them in Arizona, but this one was observed near a mountain stream in the Sierra San Luis of northeastern Sonora, Mexico. Easy to see how they come by their name. #herps #snakes #NaturePhotography 🌿

An angled-down image of a rattlesnake in a loose coil. The head is drawn back in an S-curve "striking position" and the rattle is held vertically in front of the snake. The ground color of the snake is a straw-yellow, and there are irregular dark brown blotches down the body, each with smaller straw-yellow blotches inside them. The singular feature of the patterns on this snake is that every scale is a solid, single color - each blotch and band is defined by this detail. The last six inches of the tail are charcoal black, while the rattles are a faded tan color.
