Now that our chimney is fixed and we installed a wood-burning fireplace insert, we’re looking firward to heating our house with wood this winter. We just got two cords of beautiful firewood delivered by Robinson’s Tree Service. Hit them up at 612-390-0879 if you need good, dry, split hardwood.

Two cords of firewood stacked inside our porch.

Also, it looks like I can’t vote today anyway. Voting in person at the Plato Building is only available on weekdays. And other locations don’t open up until mid-October.

The Loons get goals from, Yeboah and Caldeira. The Sounders get goals from Clark and Dotson (both former Loons). 2-2 draw.

I’m running out of room for my collection of DFL lawn signs!

A yard with eight lawn signs for political candidates out front, and a porch with a Minnesota state flag and three other signs that have political messages on them.

Yeboah and Caldeira both score, and then Malone subs in late and gets one as well. Pereyra assists on all three. Loons win 3-0.

Yeboah will net a brace, but it’s not enough, because Sang Bin will come off the bench and score his own brace. 2-2 draw.

Loons win 2-0. We get an early one from Yeboah, and a late one from Malone in his debut.

Cool! I put a red circle around my best guess at which one it might be. Thanks for your help!

Oh wait! I think I have the wrong building. Based on the photo I shot, I think it might be this building (which was also a stable)!

Micheal Foley in Saint Paul @foleymo.bsky.social · 25/08/2026

Thanks, everyone! This is the best information I've seen yet! Apparently it was a stable, connected to a shed/privy, connected to a dwelling. These images are from the People and Places of the Capitol map within this GIS story map at storymaps.arcgis.com/stories/d805...

Anyone at @mnlib.bsky.social or the Minnesota History Center know anything about the land around the Capitol and what was there before?

210

Micheal Foley in Saint Paul @foleymo.bsky.social · 25/08/2026

Yeah. I know that. But, what did they find?!

120

Micheal Foley in Saint Paul @foleymo.bsky.social · 25/08/2026

Who want to help solve a mystery?! It looks like the construction crews working on the State Office Building next to the Capitol have unearthed something unexpected. Looks like it might be an old retaining wall or something. Are there any historians or map nerds who can help us solve this mystery?

Those types of racks are also terrible for bikes with fenders. I feel like whenever I put my bike in a rack like that it'll bend and scratch my back fender as it scrapes across the floor.

How many people had us winning by four in the prophecies? Just casually asking, for no reason…

100

Micheal Foley in Saint Paul @foleymo.bsky.social · 23/08/2026

We’ll win 4-0 with goals from Caldeira, Pereyra, Yeboah, and Chancalay, and get revenge for the getting knocked out of the U.S. Open Cup. … OR (more likely) I’ll yell at my TV a lot and cry myself to sleep after yet another flat uninspired performance resulting in a loss.

A crew from Chimney Doctors spent the last few days (in the crazy heat) rebuilding our chimney from the roofline up and installing a wood-burning fireplace insert. Now we can safely have fires again, and — because we went with an insert — those fires will actually help heat our house!
