I don't know how to explained to my fellow late diagnosed autistics (not all, but way too many!) that "I got diagnosed later because I was smarter and hotter than the other autistic people" can never be just your experience, because it drags a whole bunch of other people into your assumptions.

I have complicated feelings about that man, but I’ll always love his earlier decades of work and I’ll always love that he did an interview before that awful movie came out where was pretty casual about Illya and queerness.

When I spoke to McCallum, now81, last week, he admitted that he was a bit of a hit with male fans too. “I have met a number of gay men who said they were quite enamoured of Illya Luryakin. There was a period where Ibushi was trying to talk Endo into training him, and Endo very casually rejected all of those efforts. One of the most important skills you can develop as a personal trainer is learning to spot and avoid people who are never going to listen to a single thing you suggest.
