New article out in RSOS. Led by Jan F Weis, we show that self-compassion predicts positive affect and modulates changes in self-esteem in response to performing our Learning-of-Effort-Efficacy (LOEE) task. Joint work with @soerenkrach.bsky.social and @fmpaulus.bsky.social doi.org/10.1098/rsos...

Out now @natcomms.nature.com. how do deadlines shape effort processing? We show that deadlines cause us to seek high effort rather than avoid it. Why? Becease effort makes progress towards completing goals, making it valuable, a process coordinated by fronto-striatal computations.

New publication in Translational Psychiatry by Nora Czekalla et al. from the Social Neuroscience Lab in Lübeck 💫 www.nature.com/articles/s41... We all know the experience: Something goes better than expected, someone gives us positive feedback - and yet somehow, we don’t really believe it. TL;DR👇

Liz Soto and Savanna Batten are 2 of those sentenced to 50 years in prison for Prairieland. I visited them in a north Texas jail—11 months into their incarceration over a July 4 noise demo—to meet the Trump admin’s “Antifa terrorists”. from behind glass, Soto said, “They didn’t like my book club.”

#ichbinhanna

Thanks a lot for putting this together! Do you think it is reasonable that some of the difference in the frequency of „discordant“ voxels in the +BOLD and -BOLD could be explained by the different magnitudes of the signal? E.g. +BOLD has a larger abs effect than -BOLD and better SNR?

With so little money to go round, the costs of competing for grants can exceed what the grants are worth. When that happens, nobody wins.

Preprint! Led by Jan F Weis, we show that self-compassion predicts positive affect and self-esteem, & protects self-esteem in low performers. Also, positive affect reflects reward expectations & prediction errors, and regret, but independently from self-compassion. #selfcompassion bit.ly/SC_PA_SE
