IMPORTANT VULNERABILITY DISCLOSURE: sometimes I feel sad

Darcy Casselman @flyingsquirrel.mastodon.social.ap.brid.gy · 20h

Okay, I think #mastodon's new UI needs a bit more time to cook. Fortunately, we have open standards! Mastodon is awesome, you guys! I'm giving @phanpy another try. It's been a while and it's looking pretty nice.

This election will be decided by turnout. The richest, greediest, most selfish cranks in this city will definitely vote, so it's up to us to make sure we get a government that actually represents the people.

Waterloo region folks, Covid boosters are available at the Frederick Street Mall pharmacy. No hoop-jumping. Flu shots should be available this week. Maybe tomorrow. @waterlooregion

I like the quote they chose for me at the end of this article: www.cbc.ca/news/world/leap-second-d… "This is a real human problem that we've been struggling with forever, as long as we've been watching the stars move across the sky and tracking when the sun rises and […]

Just had a 5:30pm surprise CBC interview about leap seconds: www.cnn.com/2026/10/13/science/leap… I didn't really have much of an opinion on leap seconds until I talked through it with the journalist. But wow, leap seconds are such a bad idea! What a […]

This interview starts off and occasionally tries to redirect back to stupid American nonsense, but when it allows Christia Freeland to talk about her own career and perspective, it becomes interesting and illuminating. I admit, I like her. But I think this is, over all, a good interview […]

@Ryan As for school board, I do recommend at least glancing over candidate websites/socials. There are definitely crazy people running for school board in Waterloo, and judging by the election signs, they're the ones who have money behind them.

@b0rk I knew (an obsessively nerdy amount) about git before I'd ever really used it properly and was convinced that rebase was the way to go. Then I worked on a large codebase with a very busy main and discovered that resolving conflicts with rebase in that scenario was nearly incomprehensible […]
