I am no enlightened sage on this stuff. 😀 I grew up in such a different way than most Americans, especially the middle class white Americans I'm so surrounded by in my daily life that the one thing I am constantly reminded of is that I see the world so differently from most of those around me.

Steinem was first and foremost a capitalism and worked for the CIA to make sure that feminism wasn't 'infected' with class consciousness. It's why after all these decades US feminism is still a weaker, less effective movement than in much of the rest of the world.

One of my oldest, closest friends lives about 10 minutes (when the roads are still there!) east of Fairview. The devastation and his stories of their survival of the actual storm and flooding are almost hard to believe. And we both grew up in Fl, I lived in Orlando in 2004, and just left New Orleans

That's one of the ways you know you're dealing with cartels that have set a minimum rent for an area rather than any fantasy about "free markets". There are so many places in New Orleans that went under while I was there because of rent increases and then set empty for months or years.

I finally stopped in at station 11 today. It's a restaurant/bar/coffeeshop in a former historic fire station, hence the name. Although far less busy at 9:00 a.m. on a Saturday morning, it did remind me a bit of a more upscale version of The Vintage on Magazine Street in New Orleans. #photography

It's a dumb line. A show that was on from 2000-2007 is not one of the greatest shows of the 21st century because it also had a few episodes in 1999. God, I hate the @nytimes.com. All of it. Not just the trans bashing and the dishonest framing of so much news, but even the "light" stuff.
