This was a good point, so I asked Gus. It turns out only the endpoints for 1995 and 2025 define the vertical position. The in between years do not shift the line up, only horizontally to define the curve. It's more illustrative than I thought, to up the flame metaphor.

Prediction markets are a lot like regular gambling in that you're more likely to lose your money. But prediction markets have little regulation and it seems easier for insiders to interfere. Probably no biggie. Nice zoom out on the heatmapped distribution of gains and losses on this one.
