I refuse to even think about claims that chatbots are conscious beings whose rights must be protected until I live in a society where all humans are treated as conscious beings whose rights must be protected.

I think I’m into your top ten way more than the real top ten. Just to pick a random one: Curb Your Enthusiasm at 9? That show is fine. I thought the 21st century was peak tv.

"In 2020, there were only six programs in the U.S. that sent unarmed responders, such as mental health clinicians, to certain 911 calls instead of police officers. Now, these programs — sometimes called alternative or community response — are in nearly 100 cities." www.npr.org/2026/09/22/n...

How unarmed 911 teams are reshaping public safety in nearly 100 cities

Alternative response programs, where mental health clinicians respond to 911 calls instead of police, have proliferated since George Floyd's murder. What does it take to do this work well?

I will say I don’t love the pilot, but I have great love for the series. It does seem like something you would like.

I know I’m not the first to say this, but so much of what the current administration releases reads like an Onion story. Screening for ”loss of spontaneous mourning erections?” And I know it’s ”voluntary,” but it’s the military. Voluntary doesn’t mean the same thing there as in your personal life.

I have seen a different animal on each of the last three days: an enormous turkey, a runty coyote, and a statuesque deer. All these sightings were in an urban setting, and every time it made my day immeasurably better! I guess I just love seeing animals.

I was a bit doubtful, but, upon inspection, any playlist with Marquee Moon, Rubberband Man, Dreams, In Dreams, International Players Anthem, and What You Need is very solid. It’s got the funk, rap, soul, pop, and rock all covered.
