I know most of you guys don't go on the other app but the pope posted an anti AI/ pro artists statement yesterday, and the ensuing cope and memes is really funny

Pope Leo XIV
@Pontifex

In this era of artificial intelligence, it is becoming urgent to distinguish human art from what machines produce. There is an ontological difference, even before an aesthetic one, between art and what a machine can generate through statistical calculation based on millions of images created by others. Algorithms lack the spark of humanity. For this reason, the Church wishes to renew an alliance with artists and cultural institutions to safeguard our humanity.

2016: I will never fight a holy war

2019: Pope Leo I am ready launch me towards the nearest data center

some AI guy saying he makes christian children's books with AI asking the pope if that is ok then and someone posting a meme react with the pope holding a baseball bat saying 'did I stutter'

Over ten years ago my best writing friend at the time wrote me the sweetest poem to encourage me. It has been printed in a frame ever since, even when we eventually lost touch. She is publishing her debut novel in 2027.

A dog bites a human and everyone shouts for it to be put down. But 7 people can rape a young woman for SEVEN HOURS and advertise her body as free use to their fraternity and everyone talks about not ruining their life because they made one mistake.

@cavan.bsky.social I love the honesty in your new newsletter in the Nightlander. You could have easily said "Yes, Lourna Dee referencing the Nightlander was an easter egg and this comic was planned all along! Muahahaha!" and seemed like an absolute genius. www.cavletter.com/iain-mccaigs...

I have a lot to say about the Cornell case, but I'm largely keeping it on the inside, since I'll be honest: I find it triggering. But I have one specific ask: parents, talk to your sons. Talk to them and make sure they understand accountability. Talk to them about consent. Do it now.

What did people expect Taylor Swift to write? She got engaged and was planning a wedding. Her album broke all the records. She got her masters back. Got a dog. And you want her to write about how depressed and sad she is?

The far left party in Germany has won a (localized) election for the first time and a lot of politicians have been very worries about this. This is of course understandable since the far left want childcare to be free. Lower rent. Tax the rich more. Truly worrying.
