I strongly encourage readers of indie queer and especially trans books to start using itchio as more of us authors move away from Amazon. Authors get a bigger cut, you can tip, and, most importantly, you will actually own your ebooks instead of just licensing them from Amazon.

Maus author Art Spiegelman’s next comic will be about Gaza, in collaboration with Joe Sacco. He thinks he will struggle to find a publisher in the United States. “I’ll finish this thing or die trying.”

Art Spiegelman Won’t Shrink Back From Controversy

The artist has illustrated more than one contentious New Yorker cover in his career, chronicled in a new film, and his next project will be no less gutsy.

Miscellaneous stuff for Deimos Jin and Zuri circa 2020 #oc #originalcharacter #soymikkiart

Simplified fullbody color image of the character Deimos. Deimos stands against a red background, left leg in front while right hovers behind it, almost like he's floating. Aside from his pants and shirt, which are colored in the same black as the lineart,, the white of his eyes and tears, and the red of his blood, he is fully colored in purple. He holds his hands up near his face, but doesn't cover it. His eyes are whited out, looking blankly towards the viewer as tears fall from them heavily and blood drips down his face from where his scars reside.

Deimos is a young man between 19-24. He wears a sleeveless black turtleneck, baggy cargo pants and black boots. His hair is styled somewhat wild, parting at his right temple to swoop over to his left. Scratch-like marks cut diagonally from his right temple across his face. Aside from his eyes, there's no discernible expression, since there is no nose or mouth represented in the art for stylistic purposes.

End ID.

Color image with a red background. A bust shot of the character Jin. His body faces a little away as he looks towards the viewer, eyes shadowed and wearing an almost hidden coy smile which is nearly obscured by the mask he holds in his right hand. The mask, reminiscent of the cat eared motorcycle helmet he always wears, hides most of his face.

He wears a large grey-black leather coat with cream colored fur trimming on the collar and sleeves, underneath which he wears a simple low collar white t-shirt. He has beige skin, sharp claw-like nails, and short straight black hair styled out of his face and up to the left of the image. His age is around 19-24. The mask he holds is blue with cat ears, the face of it similar to a Power Ranger helmet.

End ID.

Color image with orange background. A simplified full body of the character Jin, his right arm rests at his side, while he raises the other up, his left hand close to his face as he gives a peace sign. He rests his weight on his right leg as he stands facing the viewer, his left leg extended a bit towards the right of the viewer. His tail curls behind him, curving out from around his left thigh to under his knees until it reaches the left of the image ending in a playful downward hook shape.

Jin wears a shiny blue cat eared motorcycle helmet in a similar style to a Power Ranger helmet. He has a large grey-black leather coat with cream colored fur trimming on the collar and sleeves, underneath which he wears a simple low collar white t-shirt, light blue jeans with a grey belt and bright blue sneakers that have 3 lines on the front to evoke paws. He has beige skin and a black cat tail.

End ID.

Color image of 3 characters on orange background with screenshot/text.

Text:
Deimos, speechbubble a screenshot from Tumblr user coffin-octopi: "Put that stray catboy back you don't know where it's been."
Zuri, speechbubble colored in yellow: "No!"

Zuri (furthest left, midground) stands at full height, a big smile on her face with flowers hovering around as she holds Jin's (center, midground) right hand with her left hand. Jin, his tail curving in a backwards "S" behind him, is wearing a helmet that obscures his face. He is somehow still able to express a smile, with his helmet visor acting like eyes similar to Spiderman's mask. He holds his left hand up to wave at Deimos (furthest right, foreground) who is not amused.

Zuri is a young girl around 12-14 with dark brown skin and hair tied up in twin afro puffs. She is colored in shades of yellow. She wears goggles that she keeps on her head like a headband, grey overalls that stop just above the knee with long knee high white socks under rubber boots. She wears thick rubber gloves that reach up to her elbow. Around her neck is a gold oval shaped locket, and around her waist is a double pouched tool bag, one pouch for either side of her hips.

Jin is a young man between 19-24. He is colored in shades of blue. He wears a cat eared motorcycle helmet in a similar style to a Power Ranger helmet. He has a large dark leather coat with fur trimming on the collar and sleeves, underneath which he wears a simple low collar white t-shirt, light blue jeans with a belt and bright blue sneakers that have 3 lines on the front to evoke paws. He has light skin and a black cat tail.

Deimos wears, a cropped bomber jacket over a black sleeveless turtleneck, and a visual aid visor. The visor glass covers hald of his face, with neural implants that rest above his ears. He has brown skin and scarring over his eyes, which are milky in color. His hair is styled somewhat wild, parting at his right temple to swoop over to his left.

JinDei "Gay Idiocy in 3 Acts" Circa June 2020 #oc #originalcharacter #soymikkiart

Color image. From left to right:
Two scenes featuring the characters Deimos (left) and Jin (right). To the farthest right of the image, the background is a purple that stripes into orange as it goes right. The character Deimos rests his back against a wall, his visor on as he looks up towards Jin. He holds Jin's jacket collar in his left fist to get Jin's attention while his right arm rests almost nervously at his side against the wall. Jin, who is taller, leans down a bit to look at Deimos, tilting his head curiously at Deimos, question mark bubbles popping out from behind his head to the right but otherwise relaxed, left hand in his jean pocket while the other rests at his side, black cat tail curling low behind him.

The next scene, takes up the center and right of the image. The background is a burst of yellows and golden oranges in geometric shapes radiating out from the both of them, showing Deimo's movement and Jin's shock visually as Deimos, with his visor now off, uses both hands to pull Jin in for a kiss. Eyes closed, Deimos's nose slams into Jin's helmet with a "DONK" sound as Jin looks at him in surprise, blush lines at his cheeks and eyes visibly shocked through his helmet visor. His right hand in awkward shock near Deimos's head, a text box of 6 exclamation points appearing behind him to the right of the image.

Deimos wears black fingerless gloves with gold bracers, a black sleeveless tight fitting turtleneck, and a visual aid visor. The visor glass is red, with gold neural implants around his ears. He has brown skin and scarring over his eyes. His hair is brown and styled somewhat wild, parting at his right temple to swoop over to his left.

Jin wears a blue cat eared motorcycle helmet. He has a large leather coat with cream colored fur trimming on the collar and sleeves, underneath which he wears a low collar white t-shirt, light blue jeans with a grey belt. He has beige skin, and a small bit of short black hair sticks out from under his helmet.

Color image of two simplified characters against a yellow/gold background.

Deimos (left) stares down with an intense expression, a purple aura of annoyance radiating out of him. Blood drips down his nose, onto his shirt and the back of his right hand as he holds it against the bleeding, his left hand curled into a fist at his side. Jin (left) is visibly distraught, with cartoonish sweat drops flying off of him, his tail low and flicking nervously near his feet. His knees are bent, right hand wanting to reach for Deimos while his left hovers nervously near his chest. A speech bubble from Jin shows the image of a bandaid, like Jin is asking if Deimos needs help.

Deimos wears black fingerless gloves with gold bracer straps, a black sleeveless turtleneck, dark baggy cargo pants tucked into black leather military boots, and a visual aid visor. The visor glass is red, with gold neural implants that rest above his ears. He has brown skin and scarring over his eyes, which are milky in color. His hair is brown and styled somewhat wild, parting at his right temple to swoop over to his left.
