My uncle's father-in-law was a Nobel laureate in 1954 - does that count?

I don't understand why there's no attempt to make it look like a Jaguar. They claim it resembles an E-Type in side profile, but it really doesn't.

One thing I find endlessly funny about the rise of AI is that it has revealed that there is a large number of people who believe that the reason they wrote essays at school or university is their teachers were desperately waiting for them to provide a definite answer to “Lear: what’s up with him?”

My first general election was Thatcher I, in 1979 - I listened to the declaration for Cambridge (Robert Rhodes James returned for the Conservatives) outside the Guildhall. He was to return twice more before it became the Labour/Lib Dem marginal it remains.

My DNA says majority Welsh and NW English, French, two kinds of Irish, Danish, oddments of other English regions and a fragment of North African which is probably Algerian as I have a French grandmother. Do I get repatriated to Welshpool or may I choose?

It must have been my Marina 1.8TC, which had some ability to accelerate, poor brakes and long-departed structural integrity. But the main issue was the need to spray petrol into a carburettor to make it start - and thus to carry petrol in an unsafe container, viz. a laboratory spray bottle.

British authorities arrested scores of elderly protestors for peacefully holding signs that expressed solidarity with Palestine Action and opposing genocide. One of them was 94 year old Jewish human rights barrister, Margaret Owen. She is now being referred to as "the oldest terrorist in Britain."

I left school in 1976 and can't remember ever singing the National Anthem during my school years. Hymns, yes, though non-Christians only rocked up at the end to hear announcements.

We broke down at 4pm and were home at 10:30. But at least we broke down in Essex, not Germany (we were rallying around Groesbeek, as far east as one can go in the Netherlands, and managed to take a wrong turn over the border), Netherlands, Belgium or France.

Anyway, here's the view from our bedroom window in our lovely lakeside hotel - they asked us to park one of each model on the grass. We couldn't get the De Tomaso Deauville that was parked closer in shot.
Four cars parked on a lakeside lawn - a dark blue Iso Grifo nearest to the camera, a metallic lime green Lele, a light blue Fidia and a dark blue Rivolta furthest away. The sunrise in reflected in the lake and the cars are covered in dew.

We attempted a rally around Gelderland - a new experience for me - and managed the first leg with our pride intact, only to have the app freeze on the second leg. We attempted to carry on in the old-fashioned way using paper instructions, but got lost part-way through and missed out on a group ferry

That aside, we visited the fascinating Gallery Aaldering in Brummen - great apple cake - and Metropole Classic Cars in Druten, where with apologies to Porsche people, my highlight was meeting the original Herbie and seeing how he was controlled invisibly from the back.
A battered white VW Beetle, with racing stripes and the number 53 in a roundel on the bonnetThe rear of the Beetle, with rear seats removed and a floor-level steering wheel and hand-brake visible. It looks excruciatingly cramped for the operator.

First someone had to come and agree that he couldn't repair it, and call a tow-truck. That arrived after four hours, but we were concerned when the driver began to work on his own vehicle - apparently the power take-off was on strike. So he had to go back for another truck. Nice chap though.

Our Iso/De Tomaso/Jensen club weekend in the Netherlands ended with us ignominiously broken down beside the M25. A slightly bodgy year-old fuel pump repair chose to fail in a place that isn't conducive to roadside fixing. Our insurance includes get-you-home recovery, but that was a lengthy process.

What a twit. Part of the problem, I suspect is that not enough British people used their freedom of movement because they were reluctant language learners. When I briefly worked at the CJEU, there seemed to be more Irish than British legal assistants.

I think that's a US offence. It's criminal damage with intent to endanger life or reckless as to whether life endangered (Criminal Damage Act 1971, s1(2) and (3)); 'destroying ships' under the Aviation and Maritime Security Act 1990 & 'conduct endangering ships' under the Merchant Shipping Act 1995.

I think once black clad men are interfering with rescues at sea, we are past "legitimate concerns". Once they're attacking boats, and risking the lives of everyone on board, it's just thuggery. The Home Secretary's statement is on the side of criminals. There's no other way to read it.
