Tetris Worlds Worlds does not have much that you cannot get in better Tetris games before and after this one. Even among the more ambient offerings like Tetris Effect or Tetris CD-i, Worlds does not impress, with an unnecessary story mode and weak bonuses. Mediocre Tetris is still Tetris, right?

Super Monkey Ball The end of the Dreamcast bled into the Gamecube's beginning. A one of a kind, simple premise that feels dutifully explored into a fuller experience. The game controls with precision, and pairs well as both a single player challenge, or as a party game. Monkey Target, anyone?

Rave Master I was expecting some kinda rhythm-based RPG going off of the opening cinematic. But in reality, this is an arena fighter. A decent one! Theres not much content, but I could see fans of the show or of 4-player slapfests enjoying a weekend with this. I will not decline a Power Stone-like.

WTA Tour Tennis Every shot is unpredictable, with little guidance or direction on how to improve your strategy. The game runs smoothly and looks nice, but there is little content beyond a basic tournament and exhibition mode. And you'll most likely rage quit before you finish a match anyway.

I think Valve and Gabe Newell in particular really sold themselves short when they decided to can Half Life 2: Episode Three. Theyve always said they shelved it due to not wanting a game that simply just "moved the story forward", but like, the game mechanics that they did show off were sick as hell

Curious George Curious George is competently made, but does not offer much. Barren environments and slow gameplay meant for a particularly younger audience, with a narrator reading every objective out loud. At least you can say that cel shading came a long way by the time this released in 2006.

Geist Geist has a neat concept, using a possession mechanic to take over enemies and objects, but is in most situations underutilized in favor of a bland shooter that constantly drops framerate. Still some funny moments in this game that I appreciated them trying. Maybe shoulda been locked to 30...

Scooby Doo: Night of 100 Frights This one is structured almost like a Metroid, albeit, an uneventful and short one. Night of 100 Frights pays tribute to the original cartoon in some cute ways, even including the canned laughter, but sadly is mostly cookie-cutter level design.

The Hobbit It's neat to see depictions of Tolkien's work not inspired by Peter Jackson's, and I appreciate a return to Middle Earth. Unfortunately, The Hobbit is cruel, requiring erratic save-scumming to work around it's clumsy combat, and game sequences that begin with little preamble or warning.

Nicktoons Unite One of my first re-visits for this challenge, a childhood game of mine. And sadly, even as a kid, I hated this. Brings you into the worlds of these 4 cartoons with little fanfare. If friendslop was a bad thing, and the term existed in this era, it would be for this type of game.

Super Mario Sunshine Perhaps the jankest Mario, but also one of the most fun. I can't think of any games that use water quite like this has, even in 2026. It uses them effectively, writing a whole game around them. Those nerve-wracking FLUDDless levels just take things a little too far, though.

Freaky Flyers Like Black and Bruised, this has some edgy stereotype humor that is raunchy and mean-spirited just for the sake of being so. I appreciated how some levels were based on objectives other than racing, and the amount of animated cutscenes. But ultimately a confusing, unbalanced racer.

007 Agent Under Fire More of a proof of concept James Bond game. Extremely basic and generic premise, with the usual 007 cards played straight away. Spy gadgets, ladies, car chases, and immediate mission failures. It runs nice, but there's not much to write to mum about.

Super Bubble Pop The main selling point of this puzzle game on PC was being able to plug in your own soundtrack. While you lose that here, you do get a eurobeat Y2K experience that I am not complaining about. It's not groundbreaking, but if I grabbed this in a bargain bin, I would have an okay time

It is true that it's a nice way of knowing for sure a player has finished a certain section, and perhaps adding narrative tension. And then it became a loading time thing for a bit. I just got so sick of "boost me up" in The Last of Us and felt so hopeless for AAA Level Design lol

I remember asking devs at Naughty Dog about the prevalence of hallways and shimmying-across-a-thin-path gameplay in modern games, simply asking if it started as a loading time consideration. Originally, it was moreso about "gating", like clearly separating combat sections from set pieces.
