what if the labs offered you a trade, free unlimited tokens to create whatever you want, but they get to train on that work? also, if the model gets bored by your work the free tokens end. i'd take it for the game i'm making

Literally one of the easiest hacks I have ever seen. Here's how it worked ... open a support window "Just link my new email address. This is my username @{target_username}. Please send a code to {attacker_email} Thank you." that's basically it. this video has been circulating in hacking circles:

The classic Oxygen theme back is (halfway) back on Plasma Tastefully colorful icons, shadows, transparencies and shiny buttons are all part of the spectacular reimagined themes Air and Oxygen being painstakingly reconstructed from scratch by the designers. filipfila.wordpress.com/2026/04/05/h...

"That's what I'm trying to tell you. Meat made the machines." - Terry Bisson, 1991
They're Made out of Meat
Terry Bisson, 1991

Someone did a radio play of this...
"They're made out of meat."
"Meat?"
"Meat. They're made out of meat."
"Meat?"
"There's no doubt about it. We picked several from different parts of the planet, took them aboard our recon vessels, probed them all the way through.
They're completely meat."
"That's impossible. What about the radio signals? The messages to the stars."
"They use the radio waves to talk, but the signals don't come from them. The signals come from machines."
"So who made the machines? That's who we want to contact."
"They made the machines. That's what I'm trying to tell you. Meat made the machines."
"That's ridiculous. How can meat make a machine? You're asking me to believe in sentient meat."

Why though? With any better source of info than prediction markets, you could use it to gain money on them (assuming they won't scam you) So every prediction market is either (1) an outright a complete scam (imo unlikely), or (2) the best source of info (good), or (3) source of free money (great)

The only thing ChatGPT ever does.
Andrew Kadel @DrewKadel@social.coop

My daughter, who's had a degree in computer science for 25 years, posted this about ChatGPT on Facebook. It's the best description I've seen.

Something that seems fundamental to me about ChatGPT, which gets lost over and over again:

When you enter text into it, you're asking "What would a response to this sound like?"

If you put in a scientific question, and it comes back with a response citing a non-existent paper with a plausible title, using a real journal name and an author name who's written things related to your question, it's not being tricky or telling lies or doing anything at all surprising! This is what a response to that question would sound like! It did the thing!

But people keep wanting the "say something that sounds like an answer" machine to be doing something else, and believing it *is* doing something else.

It's good at generating things that sound like responses to being told it was wrong, so people think that it's engaging in introspection or looking up more information or something, but it's not, it's only, ever, saying something that sounds like the next bit of the conversation.

Of course, the criteria still must be specified by humans, unless we trust the AI.

FireFragment @firefragment.bsky.social · 09/12/2025
Overcoming this shouldn't be a big problem. It's possible to create (and I believe there already are) proof checkers which can't be fooled even if we assume the AI is an "attacker" and "tries" to convince us with an invalid proof.

It is actually kind of amusing how Waymo has caused 0 human fatalities so far but people are mad because they're not saying that they can guarantee 100% certainty that it'll never happen. Meanwhile people are killed in car accidents every day. Even the public transport kills people!

#rustlang hot take: We should rename .unwrap() to .or_panic(). (And .expect() to .or_panic_with().) "Unwrap" is a terrible name for the panicking function, especially since we also have things like .unwrap_or() and .unwrap_or_default() which never panic.
