Thank you to @gareththomasmp.bsky.social and @responsiblefinance.bsky.social for hosting Monday's event in Parliament - celebrating CDFIs as enablers of growth in places which too often are overlooked. #FairBankingForAll #CDFIs #FairBankingAct #FinancialInclusion
Gareth Thomas MP, in a dark suit, addresses an audience from the podium inside a marquee venue at the Houses of Parliament during the launch of Responsible Finance's 2026 Impact Report Image shows an extract from the recommendations within Responsible Finance's 2026 Impact Report:

1. Encourage bank–CDFI partnerships

Encourage long-term, large-scale partnerships between CDFIs and banks and other financial institutions. These partnerships benefit communities, banks, and CDFIs and can be developed voluntarily, as some banks are already beginning to do. Government could also incentivise these partnerships through legislation, including consideration of a Fair Banking Act modelled on the US Community Reinvestment Act.View from the terrace beside the Houses of Parliament in London, looking across the River Thames towards the London Eye under a cloudy sky.Panel discussion at a parliamentary event featuring five speakers - 4 women and 1 man - standing on stage around a podium, with audience chairs in the foreground.
