The finder stopped digging when he realised what he had found, allowing archaeologists to block life the hoard and bring it to the British Museum for micro-excavation. 411231

The phoenix was associated with Elizabeth I and this may have been worn (and lost!) by one of her supporters. 0131

The jewellery would've been worn by, and buried with, a woman of high-status in the 7th century. 260
