The script literally describes Bullet 1 entering below the COVID mask of a "fat blue-hair" (who has just run over an ICE agent, an event that DID NOT HAPPEN) - and Bullet 2 entering above the COVID mask of the same. Surprised Dallas Sonnier could type this coherently with both hands on his dick.

Trump took money from my pocket and spent it on a Trump campaign ad. In any serious country, this would result in him being impeached, removed from office, and criminally indicted for grand theft.

Glad to see a journalist recognizing this for what it is. We just went through this with Meta's PR push to lie to us about how hard they were working to protect teens on Instagram. Self-regulation is bullshit 100% of the time unless it has external financial or legal consequences attached.

Corporate PR should be met with skepticism bordering on contempt 100% of the time. A business is what it does, not what it says it does.

I don't have anything pithy. I've been to a couple games in the stadium named after Amazon's lie about climate change. I even once received a market research survey asking me if I was aware of Instagram's efforts to protect kids and teens.

Wow, that thing everyone's talking about how they're not gonna watch looks artless and inessential af. Actively doing harm to the trans community is enough of a reason not to watch it. But they're also just doing a longer, shittier retread of 25-year-old artistic choices, and like, who cares?

Yeah, I remember 9/11. I remember when the Republicans tried to stop the first responders from getting their horrible chronic health problems paid for. Just like they're gutting the VA now. Republicans love dudes in uniform as long as their bodies are in good shape.

I can see why the GOP, a rapacious death cult, would feign offense about it. Their fundamental position is that going to war (for any reason) is good and improving public health outcomes is bad, and any attempt to tie one to the other (given the zero-sum nature of public funding) is bad.
130
FilmWonk @filmwonk.net · 31/08/2026
I'm really not sure why any media types think I should be offended that @abdulelsayed.bsky.social said we should care as much about millions of Americans dying needlessly of COVID as we did about thousands of Americans dying on 9/11. That seems like a pretty reasonable position.

What a remarkable story. I don't have any pithy observation about the triumph of creativity and the human spirit, but trying to do one last creative pursuit while your ailing mind can still manage it is life at its finest. It's not raging against the dying of the light. It's...dancing while you can.

They mean "people with charisma" because they envy them. They also mean "people who are fragile and tightly wound", which is just "people" with extra steps. They also mean they're unimaginative and peaked in high school. They contain multitudes! Theatre kids, that is. Not right-wingers.

A car chase in one of the Bourne films took place in a city I had visited. I recognized a location and then checked some of the subway signs visible in other scenes and saw the geography was impossible/all over the place. Not really the same phenomenon though - I broke my own fourth wall on that.

I believe he was "With" though. I think the only time Tarantino has leaned into that joke was with Rick Dalton as a "special guest star" in his own picture (as a has-been in a TV villain role), but that came with a layer of irony.

(SS Californian probably couldn't have done anything in time -they had less than an hour from radio broadcast to Titanic slipping beneath the waves - but there's a good chance they could've made it in time to save more lives if they hadn't ignored the rockets)

The Coast Guard broadcast an MARB (Maritime Request for Assistance Broadcast), which Zuck's pleasure barge was not legally obliged to respond to (unlike a mayday). So. "Whoopsie! Wrong channel!" is not an explanation I buy. So was it -"We weren't listening" (crime) -or "we didn't give a fuck"?

Hey you know who else didn't hear a call for help? The SS Californian, which was much closer than the Carpathia, and failed to respond to RMS Titanic's distress call (and rockets). Which led to the standardization of Channel 16 for distress calls, and mandated 24-hour monitoring for the same.

Our library levy in Seattle just passed overwhelmingly. As a Seattle homeowner, I have a routine whenever I see these come up on my ballot. First I say, "Huh. It kinda sucks that we're funding libraries in this way." Then I vote for it. Because libraries are important and useful and good.
