But I don't know if I'm ready to leave here. I don't feel like I'm done with Wyoming yet. And Wyoming isn't done with me, either. I don't mind the move. I've moved states and countries before. I fully expect to live in Idaho some day. But I'm not drawn to this particular house right now. 9/

Don't get me wrong, Idaho is absolutely stunning. There are parts of the state that are absolutely jaw dropping in their beauty. The politics aren't great, but I already live in a state run by right-wing nutbars. 8/

As I said, once we leave Jackson, that's it. We won't be able to afford to come back. And politics aside, I like living in Wyoming. This place feels like home to me. There are a few things I miss from NY but I've never once regretted moving here. This state has become part of who I am. 7/

Our best friends in the area literally live 4 doors down. So we'd be giving up game night or watching each other's cats. It becomes a shlep to go to summer concerts at Snow King rather than just riding our bikes. We won't be able to walk to the groomed XC track to ski in the winter. 6/

BUT We'd be leaving Jackson which, despite the issues, is a pretty convenient town to live in. We're right outside Grand Teton National Park. There's a great dedicated pathway system for biking around. There are 3 grocery stores, quite a bit of art and culture, all the markets she sells at. 5/

At the house, we'd have almost double the space, a small yard, a garage for storage -- all the advantages of a standalone house. We'd be 10 minutes away from our land rather than an hour away. I'd have a dedicated room for an office, she'd have a room for her businesses, we'd have closets. 4/

On paper, it makes a lot of sense to move. We're in an 800 sq ft (just over 74 sq meters) condo on the second floor with no outside space. In that space we have my wife's silver bench, her massage table, my desk, plus we and our cats need to live. 3/

Building around here is extremely expensive so we haven't even started the permitting process. But we do have another option in Idaho. The thing is, that means leaving Jackson. Given the nature of things here, once you leave you can't return unless you're wealthy. 2/

I'm so conflicted right now. We may be moving to Idaho and I don't really know how to feel about it. The plan for a long time has been to build a house on our property in Teton Valley. We own 2.4 acres (just under 1 hectrare). We'll have a great view of the Tetons, especially the Grand. 1/
