That festival was probably the "Festival Express", a multi-band multi-day train trip across Canada. Janis, the Band, Grateful Dead, Buddy Guy, the Flying Burrito Brothers, Ian & Sylvia, Delaney & Bonnie, and more on a custom train. Much jamming, and frivolities ensued during the trip.
