L Trot said by removing the opportunity to go to Uni for 100000 future students allowing “negative value” courses to close. Of course she’s too scared to name the courses, but Laura K said Creative Arts. She also, whilst reluctant to admit it, seemed content this might cause some Unis to close

Really agree with this recommendation. Lovely to read such a balanced analysis.

Oh I really hope not. I think FPTP is outdated and damaging.

I struggle with the question…what’s the result of not voting for them whilst FPTP remains. Cons /The vile bile of Reform? Why would you vote in a way enabling the very opposite of what you want? I get the disappointment, just conscious of a lack of real alternatives without electoral reform

Project Here.
OBR finds that its projection that Brexit would cost the country £40 billion have 'broadly materialised'.

But Magats: Nah nah nah but he’s playing chess and if you believe that you just aren’t broad-thinking enough. You are blinkered. - Blissfully unaware of an ironic lack of insight.

Good programme. Takes me back. The dedication, the hours, the tension awaiting verdict, the prep. It’s an amazing job. But I don’t miss the exhaustion.

But does current state education promote critical thinking with all the teach for the test pressure on educators?

Fair enough. Does look tasty. But had one of those health issue checks which requires checks.

Looks lovely but is there more veg than 2cm of carrot? A side plate perhaps? Would then be truly lush.

Suspect there isn’t the bargaining power, and with current plans for an unconstitutional 3rd term don’t expect a 4 year clause would provide the protection intended.

Wish potential rehires could say not until I have confirmation in writing that my skills and competence are up to scratch and dismissal letter was factually incorrect, a significant pay rise and a 4 year minimum contract which is then extendable.

Been hearing FDA employees dismissed for not having the right skills or competence are hastily being rehired once affected industries have complained. So sorry America.

Not the argument at all. No party is perfect. Vote for the least worst. Vote tactically in your constituency to achieve the least worst option that causes the least harm to the people who are living with the consequences of the policies. It is so depressing, but is modern politics

Not voting is a form of vote and still is self destructive if making that choice enables a party you know will do more harm get into power.

That’s illogical. It’s the very definition of cutting your nose off to spite your face. I’ll vote for a party I know will treat me & others worse than current government cos I don’t agree with all of current government’s actions.

The unanimous conclusion of @chrussiaeurasia.bsky.social authors is that the only outcome in Ukraine that can safeguard the security of Europe is a convincing Ukrainian victory. Western military support to Kyiv should be redoubled before it is too late.

The governments on the receiving end might buckle, but do consumers want to treat US less regulated food products as equal to those in EU/UK? Whatever governments agree, consumers can still say “no thanks”. And not cave to bullying.

@bbcnewsnight.bsky.social speaker from North Carolina suggests the postponed tariffs are some strong arm posturing tactic. So sad, as the postponement reveals the weakness behind the posturing whilst the damage has been gone.

when this ends, what is the sanction for breaking your sworn oaths and not protecting democracy? How does the country make sure that personal accountability will ensure the checks and balances that the Republican Party seem so willing to give up without a whimper are rigorously enforced?

Tories wanting to silence critics and not understanding the value to society of informed debate. If policies stand up to scrutiny, that’s surely a good thing? If not, perhaps a rethink would have value…
