I think that if millennials/gen Z work together we can drive HOAs to the breaking point

My HOA once charged me $75 because my trash can was visible from the street for approximately six minutes. So now I use the anonymous form on their website to report myself for having grass that's too long. Sandra has to walk all the way over with a ruler and measure it once a week. It's important to stay involved in your community.

Currently, I have no idea how I could ever be convinced to go back to America again It doesn't even matter who ends up in charge. 30% of the population wants this

Conservatives are the biggest gatekeepers when it comes to housing supply and affordability in Canada, as I wrote three years ago. Danielle Smith and the UCP just proved my point, again. www.nationalobserver.com/2023/06/12/o...

Are Poilievre’s conservative allies the real gatekeepers?
Pierre Poilievre likes to rail against "gatekeepers" and the role they play in Canada's ultra-high housing costs — and he has a point. It's one he should bring up with the conservative politicians who...

gutting to realize that any good decision that is made by a city can immediately be repealed by some chud premier who wants to use cities as culture war wedges It's actually so fucking embarrassing if you voted for either Ford or Smith, no other word for it

I'm unable to put in words how much I despise the people/politicians of Toronto who insist that the city is "full" Most of the city is emptying out. We're stuffing all the population growth onto 3 roads

The thing about cars is that no matter how much space you give them, it is never enough Give them the bike lanes, the parking, tear down buildings to build highways. It doesn't matter, they're still going to take our parks. They'd drive over their mother if it meant they could park 6 feet closer

The "uses all your limbs & brain" one is huge. Driving should be a cognitive and physically demanding task until we're able to deploy safe fully autonomous vehicles. The middle ground that we're currently in is brutal

There are a million reasons why housing is unaffordable. The biggest one is that we don't have enough homes Another massive one is that we think it's normal to spend 50% of our income on a mortgage, so prices get bid up to that level. Insane

John Doe 🍁 @fidelityalt.bsky.social · 05/10/2026
Really good, quick article The stress test using gross income makes absolutely no sense, and the fact that the rule of thumb is max 39% of gross means that basically anyone can get approved to spend HALF of their actual income on their mortgage. Absurdly low bar www.ctvnews.ca/business/rea...

I hate that all these guys think it's a "boycott" and not what it actually is, a fundamental change in the relationship. 30% of their population voted for a guy who wants to annex us! That doesn't go away if you take away the guy they voted for

Doug Ford's Ontario: Bigger cars, faster speeds, no bike lanes, no money for transit, no money for traffic enforcement Every vehicle death is a policy choice

I spent years in an affordable unit, that I did not want to live in, because I just didnt want to have to bid against 20 other people for a """luxury""" rental unit at a place I actually wanted There are tons of people who make over 100k and live in units that could be occupied by those who make 50

All those Toronto drivers who shouted about bike lanes' [non-existent] effect on emergency vehicles will no doubt throw their support behind congestion pricing. Right?

I genuinely think that Ford voters still won't blame Ford for that "We wouldn't have needed to do all this construction/spend all this money if the bike lanes never existed in the first place" will, I think, be the default response from his voters

Easily my biggest criticism of Chow. The bar *started* in hell regarding transit, and it's still managed to get worse during her tenure, with no plan to improve. More and more slow zones every day

The thing about homeownership as a primary investment strategy is that you can only do it for 1 (one) generation before creating a more or less permanent dual-class structure

Doug Ford's legacy Tripling down on legacy manufacturers, pulling out bike lanes, defunding transit, building multibillion $ highways in the middle of nowhere. Right when gas is near all time highs, american car companies are on the downhill, and while we have a trade war
