Alt communities are full of this type of guy btw. So I was browsing Reddit for conditioner advice and this caught my eye. Gonna be dead honest with yall, if someone says an alt culture is non political you have full endorsement to give them a wedgie and toss them in the dumpster. 🧵

I'm glad you actually do care about goth culture, but I can't look over the fact that the scene is now crawling with tourists who only care about the fashion now that goth is now en vogue. Hell, just yesterday a bunch of people claimed that goth was political. Complete rubbish. I'm sick of these posers making revisionist history. If nobody speaks out against people claiming nonsense then the subculture just becomes a watered down puddle. Where is your line in the sand then? Would you care if someone said Taylor Swift is goth? Since everyone on Reddit is terrified to be confrontational against the majority then it'll be adopted as true.

Think of the long-term effects. A.I. constantly pulls from sites like Reddit for information. Years down the road if enough people agree Taylor Swift is goth then anyone new to the scene will believe it to be true when they look it up. That's what happens when you don't gatekeep.
