behind the scenes: the group "bluesky moderation" are default options that I did not create. the few ! options are special conditions and !hide was used, which is like a shortcut for hiding content.

Strange, let me investigate. Their account does have the proper labels applied. This seems like a label declaration issue, but I've also specifically seen that Vancouver, BC is declared correctly before though.

We also map sub interests too. We don't currently provide a filter this granular, but our mappings for all interests do allow us to map certain types of politics. We only have a few right now, but we could have things like foreign war that could be used by a labeler to let users remove specific type

How might you go about this? Near you feed flags posts based on interests, politics being one of them, and we allow that to be filtered out. Interests are mapped by hashtags, keywords, and domains, each having a strength.

I was in a car not on a bike so escape would have been more difficult but this is good. Yes. You can see the cigarette on the ground that upset me and I stared at it for 5+ min as we were stopped by flaggers ahead. The strength it took me to not get out and toss it back in...

Absolutely. It's a lot of little things too. I learned to give a lot more distance between my car and pedestrians crossing because I know how much it sucks for them to be right up on you. I love when motorists stop fat back on mid-block crossings since it lets me start crossing sooner.

Going down a rabbit hole now but this is a very simple graphic I found that shows a small change in design can have a big impact here. It seems obvious, and it is, but I see a lot of bad streetlights in the wild.

4 street lights with different designs from worst to best, with less light pollution being better. The first light is fully open with light in all directions. The last light deflects light downwards. The middle designs are in between this process.

Kinda fucked safety always falls on the most vulnerable. Tell me why we don't just require minimum sightlines for cars again?

Love seeing bus stops get the treatment these deserve, because without a shelter they're not really a bus stop, they're an insult. It's unacceptable to not give transit riders first class treatment when they can save cities millions by not requiring absurdly expensive car infrastructure. ❤️UFLA

Pedestrian etiquette

Time to stir the pot with my opinion on pedestrian etiquette.

When I was a kid my mom/parents raised me to do four things as a pedestrian that I still follow today. What are they? Check them out below and let me know if they're reasonable or if you agree or if you do them too (or wish others did)

Look all ways before crossing the street! Make sure no vehicles are coming if in a plaza.

Make sure you have the right of way and can safely/properly cross a street. If in a plaza, make sure there are no vehicles or they will let you go.
When crossing, put some pep in your step! Do not "dilly dally" and walk with purpose. It's understandable if you are young/short, handicapped, elderly, in a wheelchair or on crutches, or pregnant...but if you are physically and mentally healthy enough, please walk with some amount of speed.

Wave to the person who is letting you cross! Even if you have the right of way as a pedestrian, people might still want to go anyways and you don't want to get hurt. This if someone followes the rules and let's you cross, be thankful and wave.
