‘Russia is not the enemy‘ That's the message of a pro-Kremlin campaign targeting European audiences. Meanwhile, Russian state TV openly threatens Europe, while Moscow's hybrid operations target its infrastructure, institutions and security.

Feels like groundhog day. Zelenskyy gets ambushed by the US government, and King Charles loses no time to support him, like after the Oval Office meeting in February 2025… Funny times, where Popes and Monarchs are saving the day while popularly elected leaders of superpowers can be so lost.

Indeed everything in Russia is controlled by the Kremlin. But the capability to cause Brexit and Trump is worth more than nuclear weapons, so unlikely to be hosted directly on yandex.

Cambridge analytica, with primitive means, managed to influence the Brexit vote apparently with Russian help as well. And it was clear from the start that this was happening, but many wanted to learn to control it for their own benefit thereby yielding this capability to the most ruthless.

Likely is that yandex is used for orchestration & creation of material and accounts and analysis while the actual accounts run from small VPs systems and via hacked private routers. Possible also is that the Kremlin doesn't trust yandex either with core influence services. Given the high value.

People jumped to conclusions without understanding what Cloudflare bot traffic is, which largely monitors web crawler bots. Much remains unknown. Kremlin would not directly use foreign services for hosting a weapon this potent. Otoh a credible maga or afd bot wouldn't have a Russian IP address.
