TBH very impressed with how much German I understood on this trip, even though my speaking skills are still pretty bad, I was able to follow most conversations between my mom and our relatives. Thanks Frau Brafford for 4 years of German skills and drills in high school!

I was a bit self conscious in my dirndl on the first train we took because literally everyone was staring at me but when we got to Oktoberfest a few German women asked me where I bought it from because they liked it so much and that felt so validating. I'm a real German lol

Between our Japan trip, our Vegas trip, and now this Germany trip I don't remember the last time I had a vacation where I wasn't exhausted and sleep deprived for a big chunk of it. Yeah I did so many cool things on each one but none of them was getting restful sleep.

Our Germany trip started off w/ a bang when my mom got hit in the face by a giant metal bottle on the plane & then we had an issue checking into the hotel she started worrying the trip was doomed. But our family reunion was today and everyone welcomed her so warmly it was worth it after all.

The nightmares about my trip to Germany are in full swing, last night it was that our flights completely changed to have a 9 hour layover in Iceland and I forgot to pack my clothes. I'm already super anxious about packing too, love when my regular anxiety gets combined with travel anxiety.

My sister's birthday celebration today: slept a cool 4 hours, woke up at 5am from a nightmare, went to brunch, drank half a bottle of champagne, rode an hour away into the mountains, did a tour at a president's house for 3 hours, rode an hour back home. It's a wonder I'm still awake right now.
