Soggy hawk from a few years ago

Red-tailed hawk perched on a tree branch devoid of leaves, with their feathers being completely damp and scrunkly looking because of it. They have the wings partially outstretched to help dry them and their body faster, and one of their talons tucked into their feathers while standing on the other

99.9% of people who post "you should make bad art!" on their way to make fun of bad art any time it appears in contexts they don't personally approve of seeing bad art in (e.g. indie video games with "programmer art"):

So Ada GNAT, like Rust and such, forces you to make your codebase's files easy to navigate by enforcing a rigorous naming so you know `module-package.adb` contains the package `Module.Package`. But then, of course, since Ada dates to the 80s, they put in in […] [Original post on tilde.zone]

File listing of the libgnat source code in GCC, with a ton of filenames like "a-sulcin.adb" or "s-dmotpr.ads" (that map to the packages `Ada.Strings.Unbounded.Less_Case_Insensitive` and `System.Dim.Mks.Other_Prefixes` respectively)

At least Rain World has some of the most aesthetic and beautiful environments of really nearly any games ever (IMO). This area is a particular standout but there's so much that's great in many different ways

Area of Rain World with a slugcat and cyan lizard looking like they're in some sort of maintenance channel that's largely flat ground, with a wall behind them with circular grated drain pipes. In the background above the wall there's a brown desolate field with tons of long-abandoned decaying concrete skyscrapers with minimal red rectangles rarely painted on them in the background. There's some stars and the moon visible behind the buildings

Screenshot of Rain World of a slugcat and cyan lizard on a pole near the top left edge of the structure they were on top of earlier. There's some green asian script looking letters near them. In the background there's a thick blanket of clouds with other large square structures and narrow radio antennas sticking up out of the clouds. The moon and stars are visible in the background.

Hmm, I think the map is a bit thrown off by just a few words I say unusually for the area (including the second screenshot because it is completely right with "most similar" cities being Denver XD) mydialect.us

US English dialect map showing I'm most like Montana, and then next most like a blob of the Northeast U.S. connecting down to Colorado andNebraska, but excluding Utah in-between; and getting less and less like the East Coast and especially South

Map of above, saying I'm most like Denver, Colorado¸ Portland, Oregon, and Seattle, Washington; and least like New Orleans, Houston, and New York City

The first two queries are sent with c-ares' `adig` command, one for for an A and one run for a AAAA record (c-ares is the DNS library used by curl and git). Then the second two are the queries sent by a single `curl -v github.com/` command. You notice […] [Original post on tilde.zone]

4 DNS query packets shown in Wireshark. The first two are A and AAAA queries to github.com. The third one is an A query to github.com. The fourth one is an AAAA query to github.com.com (added an extra.com!)

I guess I didn't say, the texture pack is recoloring the extreme hills biome in "silver age minecraft" (beta 1.8–release ~1.8.9) to be the bright green color used in Minecraft alpha and before, instead of the dull green it is by default (since the extreme hills […] [Original post on tilde.zone]

After all that I ended up just doing this beautiful creation instead of trying to make a new gradient XD (it actually did take a lot of tuning and testing to get it targeting just the extreme hills biome without any others) It's a mix of too many other biomes […] [Original post on tilde.zone]

The same gradient triangle as the post this is in reply to, but with a solid splotch of very bright green with fuzzy edges painted near the bottom-right side of the triangle

So I want to make a resource pack to change the biome tint in Minecraft, does anyone know of a decent way to generate a three-way gradient in a triangle like this? (other than "write code to generate it manually"). Surprisingly there's no existing generator for it […] [Original post on tilde.zone]

Although I mean, just look at it. Especially noticeable since they clearly cut in the film-scanned intro from another episode so you get a direct immediate comparison (near-last frame of the intro, near-first frame of the episode itself)

Shot of Shinji from the Neon Genesis Evangelion intro, showing him smiling. The lineart is clean and high-res and the colors are bright

Shot of Asuka from the start of the episode, smiling. The lineart is blurry and standard definition, and the colors are smeared and blurry and washed out a bit

I hate to say it but… holy crap caves with the void fog is so liminal For atmosphere the lighter fog better than just pitch darkness IMO

Minecraft screenshot from the bottom of a pretty narrow vertical ravine, looking down into the dark distance. There's some water and lava flowing from the walls in the foreground, and in the background there's very dim reddish silhouettes visible, disappearing into the fog. There's a very spooky-looking hanging mineshaft platform high-up, and a skeleton riding a spider visible a bit closer on the ground

Screenshot of a spaghetti cave in Minecraft. Behind the player is lit up, but the cave gets very dark and then when the fog appears it gets slightly lighter, silhouetting a skeleton.

Prototyping a modern architecture building for an art museum to display every painting in the game. Hmmm… with some windows and other greebling I don't think it's aggressively ugly, will probably stick with it (took a lot of concrete to make so I don't want it all to be a waste XD)

A quite large building in Minecraft. It's arranged of four rectangular prisms stacked next to and on each other to look sorta like a modern architecture building. There's a white square part, and a rectangular light gray part next to it, offset and positioned so it's partially intersecting. Stacked on top of the white part is another light gray part offset to the side at an odd angle and looking like it's intersecting, and similarly with a second white part on top of the first light gray part

Same but from a different angle to show more of the offsets of each of the sections

Very odd bat wing anatomic etymology

"Patagium" (the wing membrane of a bat) etymology on Wiktionary: "Borrowed from Latin patagīum (“gilded edging of a woman's tunic”), from an unattested Ancient Greek παταγεῖον (patageîon), perhaps from πάταγος (pátagos, “clatter”)."

Made my own fruit math meme in the venerable style

A "fruit math" meme captioned "99% of MIT graduate's can't solve this 😂😂😂". The equation sets up that apple is ≥3, and then sets up an equation with exponents for Fermat's Last Theorem, saying to find positive integers for grape, banana, lime, and apple

Lithe chee… It's also funny how, other than very slow stalking, what to them is probably a "moderate trot" is very fast still #Cheetah #Cheetahs #BigCat #BigCats #Cat #Cats #Photography #Photo
