This past month has seen an unbelievable number of fantastic albums released. Sixteen records, all from the past few weeks, all wonderful in their own way, with more to come once I’ve caught up. What a year it’s been for new music! 🤩❤️🙌 open.spotify.com/playlist/2qw...

A wee late night spin of this great album from Parquet Courts’ very own A Savage. Just a wonderful songwriter.

First time I’ve seen them. Thought they were excellent. Irritated by the amount of chatting though, & saddened by the number of people who watched the entire gig through their fucking iPhone screen!

The radar turning in the gloaming. A bit chuffed with this. Polaroid set to manual rather than auto, so able to set the exposure for the sky and these clouds. Amazed it worked this well. As usual a bit of damage from developing in my bag as I cycled onwards - I should carry a box for photos.

A Polaroid of a radar dish on the near horizon. It is a silhouette. The sun has near set, and the sky is settling down for the night. There’s no colour but the blue of a faded denim day.

The land below the sky is completely dark. Tuesday has already forgotten about it

Annoying (& expensive) when gigs fall so close together. Dirty Three, Bleak Squad, Zoh Amba three days running in November! 😫

And done. A beautiful book. Sadness and pain negotiated with, beauty and joy savoured, left and remembered. A fond but clear-eyed portrait of a village in the 1920s. A brilliant engagement with medieval art and belief. All in 80 pages.

Bridget and her head of numerous flaring suns.

Behind my partner as she balances a bouquet of sunflowers on her shoulder, obscuring her head. A parched parkland can be seen in the background.

One of my favorite albums ever is Super Furry Animals' Mwng, which is all in Welsh. Gruff Rhys is a clever lyricist in English, sure, but Welsh is his first/preferred language. I can look up translations of these songs but if he wanted to write them in English, he would have.

no phones or cameras at Cate Le Bon at St Canice’s Cathedral and I’m so glad bc tonight’s show felt like being under a spell. I also got a setlist for the first time since I was nineteen and an obsessive Mark Lanegan fan
