For Day 7 of @fe3hblackeagles.bsky.social, I wrote a short HelenaxMonica ficlet, featuring trans euphoria and joy <3 #monibert #monihelena #blackeagleswk archiveofourown.org/works/79630756

helena's debut
FallenCiatokins
Summary:
Helena von Vestra had never wanted to stand out at a party. She had always been content to wear her baggy clothes, move quietly in the shadows, and be there with a knife if Lady Edelgard ever need such a thing.

But now, here she was, dressed in high heels, a flowing black and gold dress, and of course the champagne-colored bow. Her body had changed since she'd started taking Dorothea's magical cocktail, even more than she had expected. The curves around her chest and especially her midsection were certainly not unwanted; she felt like she had truly unlocked a new and better version of herself.

She walked in, hand-in-hand with her girlfriend Monica, who stood two heads shorter than her. The fiery red-haired woman had initially driven Helena up the wall, but as time went on, she had begun to respect Monica. After all, they both wanted the same thing — to see Her Majesty's grand ambition come to fruition.

Monica and Helena (transfem Hubert) attend a party together as a couple for the first time. <3

For day 7 of #BlackEaglesWk, a WIP snippet, because the chapter needs to cook a bit more. But the Hubernie will be wrapping up soon!

Screencap of text:
6th Guardian Moon, 1185
To: Hubert von Vestra

Dear Hubert,
This might be too early and I'm sure you have more important things going on, but... do you think it'd be all right if I used a corner of the greenhouse? It seems like we're all going to be based out of Garreg Mach for a bit, and I'd like to move some plants from Varley, people won't take care of them if I'm not around.
Sincerely,
Bernadetta von Varley

6th Guardian Moon, 1185
To: Bernadetta von Varley

Dear Bernadetta,
You are a general, you know. And I am not Minister of the Imperial Greenhouse. You have as much right as I to commandeer a section of the grounds. Perhaps I should insist you do that, as an exercise of authority.
Consideringly,
Hubert von Vestra

For @fe3hblackeagles.bsky.social Day 6: Change, I decided that Hubert would ask someone out, for a change. This is my first time writing Shezbert, so I hope it worked well! Read it here: archiveofourown.org/works/79537671 #shezbert #BlackEaglesWk

tell her about it
FallenCiatokins
Summary:
"She is an excellent sparring partner. Dedicated, hardworking…"

"And cute?"

Hubert felt a lump form in his throat. Edelgard was right, of course. There were many people in this army who were dedicated and hardworking, and she was quite attractive... He breathed in after glaring at the Emperor, who raised her eyebrows at him expectantly.

"And cute," he spat out.

Bonding... Certainly Has Its Merits
Metal_Gear_XANA

Summary:

Black Eagles Week, Day 1: Bonding.

Hubert should keep his distance from the Black Eagles. All he must focus on is serving Lady Edelgard. He has an act to play: the menacing man.

Too bad for him the Black Eagles see through his facade, and worst of all he is growing closer to them.

For Day 2 of @fe3hblackeagles.bsky.social, I wrote a second chapter in my fic about post-Azure Gleam with Edelmonithea and Ferdinand. This chapter is about Ferdinand dealing with his grief of Hubert's death, poorly. Hope you enjoy 🧡 archiveofourown.org/works/698172... #BlackEaglesWk

Chapter 2: ferdinand
Summary:
He blinked back tears, thinking about the man who he loved. Hubert was dead.

And it was his father’s fault.

Desperate to find something else to think about, Ferdinand took his axe and split open another piece of wood. He had become adept at wood-chopping in his new role as the provider of physical labor for the household. It was a way to clear his mind, to focus on a specific goal instead of the looming sorrow that haunted him at every waking moment that he was not occupied.

Ferdinand reflects on his role in life after the death of his beloved Hubert.

Wrote a little Edelferdibert for #BlackEaglesWk Day 1: Bonding/Growing Old ♥️

Edelgard never thought she would paint a self-portrait. She certainly never thought she would paint herself at her current age.
Or live as long as she has for that matter.

When she was younger, she never even imagined herself having the privilege of growing old. Her siblings never had the chance, so she had no reason to believe she would either.

But here she is, alive and well. Not just surviving the way she spent most of her life, but thriving with her beloved husbands.

On one side of the room, Ferdinand polishes his old armor and weapons-things he has not needed for many years, but tending to them has become a soothing ritual for him.
Even with the metal glinting in the sunlight, he shines brighter than anything in the room.

He aged not so much in appearance as much as temperment. Rather than the lively crackling fire he was in his youth, he is now more akin to a steady flame. His presence brings warmth and comfort to her and Hubert in a way she never imagined possible.

Their husband Hubert sits in a chair nearby, eyes intently focused on his book. He looks quite handsome with his glasses and silver streaks in his hair. Ferdinand clearly thinks so too, judging by the fond glances he directs at Hubert in between polishing armor pieces.

Both Edelgard and Ferdinand were concerned about how Hubert would fare in retirement. Ever since childhood, all his time was dedicated to serving Edelgard as her loyal retainer. It took some time, but he settled comfortably into the role of their lover They were pleased to see him learn how to relax and take time for himself.

Her eyes return to the canvas in front of her.
She isn't quite sure how to paint the fine details of her face. The lines framing her mouth, the wrinkles around her eyes, both formed through years of smiling and laughing with her loved ones.

Perhaps Edelgard could not capture every fine detail in her painting, but she could capture her emotions. The hopefulness she feels that others will continue her work of creating a more just society. The love she feels for those lost and those still with her.

Hours pass. Edelgard can only tell time has passed based on the change in sunlight. In the past she-and her husbands—may have worried about wasting a day not being productive, but she has no such concern now.

She never thought bonding with loved ones could be so simple as enjoying each other's company in comfortable silence.

Occasionally her eyes will meet Ferdinand's or Hubert's in a wordless display of affection. She sees the two men exchange similar glances. She feels her heart flutter in her chest every time.

Instead of feeing guilty or undeserving of her life, Edelgard decides she will allow herself to feel worthy of love and happiness.
For her siblings, for her husbands, and for herself.

things are going great

As he finally pushed himself to move and the incredible effort it cost him, he drudged his heavy feet toward his makeshift bedroom. He was not sure that he could move another step further as every step felt leadened, but he managed it.

Could he ever find happiness in his life like the old life he once knew? He did not know. But he would continue to do the only thing he knew, in the midst of the fogginess in his brain.

He would make himself into a useful tool, bit by bit, until what made him Ferdinand von Aegir had dissolved completely.

It was the only way to redeem himself.

happy wip wednesday working on a piece for black eagles week, ramping up some angst <3

If she came back.

Did she know that Hubert was dead? Would she… remember him, if she ever recovered from her malaise? How would he tell her that he was gone? It had been hard enough to tell Dorothea, and she hadn't known him since childhood.

The piece of wood he split was not well-cut, and to be frank, Ferdinand had been closer to slicing his own foot open rather than the wood. He did not want to destroy his best boots with his carelessness, because he did not know if he would ever be able to find anything as good as them again. They had been originally crafted in Enbarr, more for war than for wood chopping. But he was an industrious man, and he could improvise. Which he had been doing a lot in the last couple of months.

He wiped sweat off his brow as he cut another tree, and then another, and then another. It was methodical work, but it made him feel accomplished. Other than this, he was not sure what his purpose was anymore, but he knew he needed to atone for his father's sins. So he would stay here, devoting his life to Edelgard's care.

Just as Hubert would have wanted it.

Ferdinand is bad because he has no sense of subtlety when he plays and wants everything to be a BIG MOMENT, but he's joyful about it. Hubert can play something really delicate and lovely and snooty, but he never does because he hates it.

I love the BEagles, but they're a bunch of silver-spoon kids. Dorothea is probably the only one who knows that beds don't just magically respawn every night in a neatly made condition. So that's an undisputed winner and an N-1 way tie for worst.
