Lionel Reid, 19, ploughed his BMW into a cyclist while under the influence of alcohol and then left the scene. Cannabis was also found in his system. The 50-year-old cyclist sustained serious head injuries. I am sure we all feel reassured that Reid’s punishment is an 18-week suspended sentence.

It's absolutely great. But it would good to know how many of these are former drivers or former bus users who were fed up to see their buses so slow because the system is inefficient and buses are stuck in jams created by car traffic.

Illegal registration plates are far too easy to get hold of and are putting the public at risk, BBC is told.

That's the crazy thing in North America: the streets are so wide that there is ample space for building segregating cycling without significantly impacting car infrastructure. Cycling infrastructure should just be everywhere (but I realise that urban sprawl is more of a problem there).

Actually I was there today and I must confirm that there is red gravel asphalt and marking for the lane going straight. So there is at least some indication that there is a cycling lane going straight. But I agree this is actually poor design and accidents are very likely.

I think it's a bit easy to target architects without talking about the regulatory context they have to work within all while trying to meet their client wish. What's missing is regulations that essentially leave no space for any other option. See France, CH, Netherlands...

That part is a joke. Even as a driver, on the main road next to the exit, you don't know if there is just one or two lanes. Every time I pass there I cross my fingers a car will not get me.

I don't think the people who work or leave in that Northern part of the city are the only ones going to Bioquarter, KB, RIE, etc. Obviously the more people connected to the network, the better. But any addition to the network makes the network more powerful.
020
fbosche.bsky.social @fbosche.bsky.social · 20/06/2026
The business case is the *network*. The southern part will link with the existing section and so will deliver benefits on its own (and the same will eventually happen with the northern section). In fact, the *network* argument applies to the cycle paths too. Next is single fair for bus-tram-train.
